The NBA’s defensive player of the year was the leading vote-getter for the NBA’s all-defense team.

Howard received 28 first-team votes and one second-team vote for a total of 57 points.

The NBA’s all-defensive team is selected by the league’s 30 head coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players, so the maximum number of possible votes is 29. Howard was the only player to receive either a first- or second-team vote from every coach who could vote for him.

Boston point guard Rajon Rondo was second in voting with 50 points — 23 first-place and four second-place votes. Cleveland’s LeBron James, the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and Charlotte’s Gerald Wallace also joined Howard on the first team.
