"New ballpark, same old blasted Twins.

But it wasn't so much the three-game sweep the Tigers suffered in their first visit to Target Field that manager Jim Leyland looked back at, it was the bigger picture of having played 20 games in 20 days.

"I'm proud of our guys," he said. "They went through a real tough stretch."

Not that he was entirely looking back, though.

From Cleveland, where the Tigers flew after the final out of the Twins' 5-4 victory on Wednesday, Leyland planned to drive home to Pittsburgh for Thursday's day off.

    Other Tigers had other plans.

Jose Valverde went to Miami, and was either going to fly his mother in from the Dominican Republic or fly all the way home to wish her an early, but happy Mother's Day."
