While Santos is flattered he tied Matt Karchner's mark for hurling 11 consecutive scoreless outings to start his major league career, he knows he must throw more strikes as part of his transition from the infield. "Like Tuesday night, every hitter I started with ball one, and it's tough to come back from that," Santos said. "They know a fastball is coming. But that's going to be the battle, to get ahead and throw strikes." Santos said seven inconsistent seasons as an infielder in the minors taught him not to get too wrapped up in the peaks and valleys of pitching.
