You know, if he was SO well liked before by Allen, why wasn't he named GM over John Nash and then Kevin Prithcard? I have to believe Allen had apprehension with WarK not to name him GM before the other two. Who knows, after seeing him in action, that might have all changed. But other that, who is Travis Heath? I have never heard of him before. Forgive me, if I don't find this credible.

So, there is a 25% chance that he stays?

Which is about the same odds the team with the worst record has of winning the draft lottery, and we know that never happens...

What an absolute pile of shit.

"Basically there's about an 97% chance Bosh comes to Portland. I've heard that. A guy told me who has nothing to do with either team so I can't see him lying. That being said, these things change and it might not even happen."

Fucking Hell. I can not believe the shit people get paid for these days. What a fucking joke.

If Paul wants the train-wreck that was the early to mid 00's, then I guess Warkentein is the way to go.

For those who didn't read the link and are wondering whether Odd's quote is in the link or he made it up to be sarcastic, it's the latter. Travis Heath is just one of several HoopsWorlds editors. He lives in Denver, so he talks to Nuggets management a lot. A few told him Wark's most likely move is to Portland, since the Nuggets owner is unsure about re-signing him. I wouldn't put a lot of credence in their speculation, but it sure got HoopsWorlds some attention, didn't it. As for being the son-in-law, that I do not know.

If by train wreck you are referring to being an actual perennial contender with a yearly shot at winning the title, then Paul should publicly apologise to Bob Whitsitt and beg him to return.

Warkenteing was basically Bob's gofer, and little more.

What would be the point of posting the exact same thing?

In most NBA burghs, the Face of the Franchise is either the best player or the Coach. But in Portland, it has been the General Manager, perhaps because the Coaches changed so often. McMillan is now entering his 6th year and could perform as Head Face. The current team hierarchy is

Face of the Franchise: Kevin Pritchard
    General Manager: Kevin Pritchard
    Head Coach: Nate McMillan

Being a 1-horse haystack with only 1 whistle stop on the track, the City of Portland needs to adore a handsome Public Face of the Franchise or there threatens a hubbub of boondocks acrimony. Bob Whitsitt (see picture at left) more than sufficed, as does Kevin Pritchard. But Mark Warkentien, a plump man about 18 years older than Pritchard, just won't do.

So I propose to Paul Allen that when he reduces Pritchard back to Chief Scout and hires Warkentien for the job of sitting next to him, that Allen include a contractual requirement that Warkentien have plastic surgery before assuming duties. Like any offseason surgery, this needs to be performed now, not at the start of next season, or else the new Face of the Franchise will have to sit at his mother's home on the sofa hearing from his friends what happened in games until December.

In fact, if the cosmetic surgery doesn't take and Warkentien is too embarrassed to sit with the team like Oden, whose injurious sensitivity the kind-hearted Minstrel seeks to preserve, then perhaps our competent trainers could require that he and Oden share an apartment, perhaps in the Rose Garden rafters, cooing with the pigeons and being each other's weight lifting spotters in their recovery regimens.
