"At least one Ottawa Senator's off-season surgery has been deemed a success.

Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson was back in Ottawa on Wednesday after having "sports hernia" surgery in Montreal on Tuesday, and general manager Bryan Murray says the surgery was successful.

The recovery time is usually four to six weeks.

Alfredsson told reporters last month that the injury progressively got worse after the Olympics in February, but it was still "manageable" and he was able to play in games."
