Here's my stupid trade of the day. Why not go after Tony Parker. He has one year left on his contract. This was the Spurs last shot at winning a title. They have Hill playing very well behind Parker so maybe there is some chance we could get him? Would we want him? What would it take to get him?
Sounds good. But if I were the Spurs, I would look at moving Duncan or Manu before Parker. They might as well build around their youngest star.
Duncan is going to retire as a Spur. And it wouldn't make sense moving Manu after they just gave him an extension.
He was Finals MVP just three years back. Dude's a monster when healthy ( he sorta had that Blazer luck this season). This would be a great opportunity to buy low. I'd give up Dre, Rudy, and Rex to get it done.
I guess I'd do a Parker for LMA trade, but the team would have to make some kind of follow up trade to try and acquire either a high level power forward prospect in this year's draft or some other skilled 4 that would be otherwise available. I don't really see it happening.
I'd definitely deal Aldridge for Parker. Aldridge is a very good big man...Parker is a star point guard. A Roy/Oden/Parker core is simply better than a Roy/Oden/Aldridge core. Pritchard would need to look for another power forward long-term, but in the short-term, an Oden/Camby front court would be just fine.* *If healthy. What could go wrong?
On the subject of replacement power forward if Aldridge was dealt: maybe that's when they try to bring Freeland over?
No freaking way would I deal Aldridge for Parker. Are you people CRAZY? Parker isn't much of a distributor and it would definitely not improve the team.
Both. I wouldn't let Parker go for LMA. Especially since it seems that the Spurs are finally gonna be bringing Tiago Splitter over. When both are healthy, Parker and Ginobili can be a lethal backcourt and spread the floor, giving Duncan more room and less punishment in the paint. If the Spurs get Splitter over, the Spurs just get better without having to deal their point guard.
So what are your feelings on Bayless as the longterm solution at point guard for this team? Just curious.
they just reupped Manu, so scratch that from even the possibilities of what might happen (base year). Along with the decline of their overall aging talent, the emergence of George Hill makes it seem Parker isn't as vital to their mix as he was. If they could get a young frontcourt stud like LA, I'd imagine they'd happily part ways with Mr Longoria. Speed tends to fade after 30. If I were running Portland, I'd be interested but at a lessor price probably involving multiple players. STOMP
I'm not sold on Bayless, but he might work out alright. Point guard is not the all-important position that some people seem to think it is. The top three teams in the league (Cleveland, LA, Orlando) all have point guards that I consider to be average at best. It would be ludicrous to deal a solid 6-11 power forward for a point guard that isn't a particularly good shooter.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!! Seriously, you need to go look up Jameer Nelson's post-season stats. "average at best" my ass.
The answer to your question is.....yes I like Tony Parker, but if Pops has to take him out in the final 2 minutes of tonights game because of his lack of an outside shot, then he can be had for a little less than LMA.
