    Let it begin.

What are our chances as of now?

The chances should be >0.000001% if LeBron is thinking logically.

Where should he logically go instead?

    There are a few options:

Cleveland - It's home; he's loyal; they will be a good team with him, and all the obvious reasons.

New York - If he wants to revitalize a historic franchise, biggest market in America, MSG, they have the most cap room in the league

Chicago - Big market, Derrick Rose, cap room

Clippers - I believe they have cap room, plus they have a solid (though aging) B. Diddy, young, solid core in Gordon, Griffin

I was being a bit facetious when I mentioned the Nets, but there are teams that can offer him more money (factoring endorsements, etc.), teammates, and a better location.

My gut tells me he's re-signing though.

Of course you're going to put down NY. Somehow the Nets have absolutely no chance, but the Knicks a fair shot. Yeah, typical Knicks fan.

If you read carefully, you would notice that the question that was asked to me was where should he logically go - not who has the best chance of signing him.

Besides, he has been rumored to go to NY for years and that has nothing to do with me being a Knicks fan; I actually said I believe he's re-signing with Cleveland in my post. Many people from all around the country who are not Knicks fans believe that he's going to the Knicks, though.

Many people from all around the country think he's going to the Knicks because the Knicks have been cleaning house for like the past 3 seasons just for Lebron. Not to mention, they have absolutely no clue about the Nets, and figure they can't offer Lebron anything close to what the Knicks can.

You are wrong, my friend. People - usually not Knicks fans - assume that we're cleaning house for LeBron. Our 2010 plan is much bigger than LeBron, though he is the "prize". Walsh and everyone realizes that the chances of signing LeBron are slim. However, you neglected to mention that this is arguably the best free agency period in NBA history. Wade, Bosh, Joe Johnson, Boozer, Amar'e, Gay, etc. are also available.

People are very much aware of the Nets situation: They lost 70 games last season, and have an uncertain head coach situation. Though they have cap space, there are other teams that have cap space in better situations like the above mentioned teams.

I guess Chicago since he might prefer their roster over other destinations that can offer the max?

I have no idea, but he should leave if the Cavs don't make moves. No more of that, get em' next year garbage.

Oh please. The plan was always Lebron. Anything else is failure.

That proves that they know nothing. The Nets have a nice young roster, and the ability to improve even more if they get Wall.

Coaching situation? Hardly matters. The Nets finally have an owner who is willing to spend money on the Nets so they can be winners. Prokhorov is going to spend money on the right coach and players. He's the type of owner every team would like.

I'm not saying the Nets will get Lebron, but you act like they're non contenders.

The Nets do have a cool owner.

Mr. J, you don't want Joe Johnson for that kind of money. You're better off with Bosh/etc.

So if the Knicks sign a combination of Wade/Bosh or Boozer/Lee/Joe Johnson it will be a complete failure? When has Walsh given any indication that the plan was only for LeBron? I think you have been duped by the media. LeBron is not the only reason why this is arguably the best free agency class in NBA history. Of course the Knicks, like the other 29 teams in the NBA, want LeBron, but the 2010 plan isn't LeBron or bust; there are plenty of other free agents who can help turn this team around.

I disagree strongly. LeBron has said that he wants to win so why would he go to a 70-loss team? Only two teams in NBA history have had worst records than these Nets. Further, you mention that they have a nice young roster, but there are teams like the Bulls and Clippers that have better young talent. They also don't have John Wall as of now, and there is a 75% chance that they don't land Wall, so he's far from a certainty.

The coaching situation does matter. A coach like D'Antoni, for example, is liked by several players (including James and Wade) in this league and no doubt that can influence a player's decision to sign with a team. If you believe Avery is a "control freak" and the Nets sign him, will that not have an influence on whether a player will sign?

You are doing a lot of speculating about Prokhorov. How do you know that he will spend money on the right players and coach? He might be a likable, charismatic guy, but that means nothing if the team is struggling. Winning speaks louder than charisma. I've heard he might be like Mark Cuban, but let's not forget that while Mark Cuban is a "player's owner", the Mavs have been a competitive team for the past decade.

I never said the Nets were non-contenders in the LeBron sweepstakes. I said that if LeBron were thinking logically he would not sign with the Nets because other teams can offer him better.

Yeah, Joe definitely isn't getting a max, especially after he stunk up the playoffs. But that's a good thing so we can get him much cheaper. You think like $11M will do it?

He turned down 16 million a year in Atlanta, so he is pretty arrogant.
