There is no way in hell I would allow my 7, 8 or 9 yr old daughter dress or dance like this in public. The parents of the kids don't seem to have a problem with it. What do you guys think? The dance troupe, called Precision Dance, hails from Orange County, and definitely "put a ring on it" during the competition in Pomona on April 10. Larry Peters, executive vice president of The Hozman Group and rep for the dance competition, says the controversy was blown out of proportion. "There has been a great deal of controversy regarding this performance, and it has been taken out of context. It is a little sensitive now, to say the least," Peters tells PopEater. "All the dance troupes do so many different dances, it is a very personal choreography and expression for every troupe and individual. These girls were amazing that day," Peters says, adding, "They were two minutes of an eight hour performance event." Melissa Presch, the mom of one little dancer and Cory Miller, the father of another child in the group spoke to Inside Edition about the controversy. "I'm shocked, quite frankly, that people would suggest such things and say such things about 8 and 9 year old girls," said Melissa Presch claiming the girls got their moves from the 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel' movie -- not Beyonce's music video. Miller added, "As a father, when you're watching your kid, no. You're looking at it as a proud kid who has really high energy, who doesn't really know what she's doing." Peters was in the audience during the group's performance and admits, "It was the very first WOD event I had ever attended, and I can tell you the cheering and screaming you heard on the video was from other parents and dance teams that were just blown away by their dance performance and precision. Wow what the hell is wrong with parents these days? I don't think the kids understand what they're really doing here. I think it's embarrassing and can't believe any parents could encourage this. I think it's sad that people are trying to defend this and make it seem like its ok. I'm just shocked. It's crazy how far parents would go to get their kids famous. They look like whores and I feel bad for the kids since they probably think it's ok to dance like that
i don't think the dancing is all that bad. there are definitely some questionable things in there, but whatever. the outfits are pretty ridiculous though.
Yah, because conservative parents NEVER sign their children up for pageants or beauty contests or nothing...You know, like the beauty pageants for 6 and 7 year olds. anyways, outside of the fact they're obviously talented (that's pretty impressive for 7 year olds to actually be able to dance with any decent ability)...that is gross.
they obviously have talent and practiced a lot so trying to look the part would be the next step....but HEEEEEEEELLLLLLL NOOOOOO....Not a chance in hell I could be talked into letting my (if I had one) daughter do that....Shit, I would have a problem with that if I had a high school daughter doing that
Different regions have different cultures. In Southern California a kid goes out to play. I was very active there. In the Northwest the kids stay inside. I've been rotting away here for 35 years. Wish I could go outside. Naah, it's raining. Kids in the southern half of the country have more freedom and grow up faster. Here in the NW adults pigeonhole them into cherubic childish roles. I once got a call from some stupid govt. agency up here because my 8 year old was playing at a public playground by himself. Oooh!! How terrible! Who would ever think a playground is for kids to play? When I was 8 I was a hundred feet high in my favorite tree.

The dance contest was in Orange County, the kids are white and middle class, so their parents are conservatives. You live in the Inland Empire and you don't know Orange County?
I think there's an initial shock to the video, but if you really look at their outfits, they aren't that dissimilar to a two-piece swimsuit. I think it's the striking resemblance to burlesque and some of the dance moves that really shock people. Probably not the best thing for a seven year old to be doing, but also not nearly as bad as some people are making it out to be. I guess I can see both sides of the argument.
I was going to post exactly the same thing. They've always creeped me out, because of the coreography. WTF are the dance instructors thinking?
