    Former Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon was released from the infield care center on Sunday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He crashed his No. 4 Panther Racing car when exiting Turn 4 during practice.

    The 2005 champion will be checked and re-evaluated for bruising in his right foot.

    Former Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon crashed his No. 4 Panther Racing car exiting Turn 4 on Sunday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

    The 2005 champion exited the car unassisted and appeared to be unhurt. He inspected the rear of the car before he was taken to the infield care center for a required evaluation.

    It was the first crash in two days of practice.

    Wheldon had the fourth-fastest speed during Saturday’s practice session at 225.609 mph.
