If KP is, indeed, a "lame duck" GM, then I don't see how he'll be anything but a shadow of himself from previous drafts. In other words, look for the Blazers to pick #22 and #44, then call it a night. No sexy trades. No PA buy-ins. No nothing.

    Sucks, don't it?

Most draft "experts" (Chad Ford and Jonathan Givony mainly) seem to see this as a deep draft with few stars ... and maybe not a whole lot of differentiation between picks 10 and 35

Well, then, in our case, that's a good thing.

I read somewhere that the Blazers might look to get aggressive in the draft this summer. Personally, I just don't see it.....again, if the KP rumors are true.

    I don't get the logic.

If KP is indeed out after the draft and he knows it, wouldn't he be just as likely (if not more likely) to swing for the fences and make a huge splash as sort of a calling card to any team that's looking for a GM? Or to attempt to save his own job? Especially with all the recent (wrong) speculation that Tom Penn, Steve Patterson, John Gabriel and even John Nash were the real movers and shakers who should get the credit for Pritchard's success?

The rumor is he may or may not be fired. If what he did was so terrible he would be gone by now. The longer there's no verdict the better imo. Allen will eventually come to his senses and know keeping KP is obviously the right thing to do.

What is known for sure is KP likes this draft and thinks it's deep, and he'll look to be active in it while everyone else is active in FA.

Yes, but he also needs PA's approval to do this. To me, one of the strangest parts of this whole tale is that KP quit sitting with Paul during games once all that Penn, etc. drama began. It may be an insignificant fact. But, then again, it may be a very telling sign of things to come.

I saw KP today. He seemed to be in a good mood and didn't look like a guy who is worrying about losing his job.

I think I should be hired as the new GM. Can you imagine how much press that would get?

Of course not. He's a highly respected GM around the league. If let go here, he'll land square on his feet.......and very quickly. Wouldn't it be ironic if Warkentien ended up in Portland and KP landed in Denver?

Not nearly as much as hiring me would get.

If you can't ever be serious, then you may as well resign as mod. Otherwise, you're in jeopardy of making a mockery of the respect that's due such a position.

    OTOH....................................nevermind.

Even if Pritchard knows he's leaving, he'll help with the draft. When Whitsitt quit in early May 2003, he made the effective date July 1 to help in the draft. He used the 23rd pick on Travis Outlaw, so he didn't sabotage the team.

Still available were Udonis Haslem, Mo Williams, Josh Howard, Kyle Korver, Steve Blake, Leonardo Barbosa, Keith Bogans, Nick Collison, Zaza Pachulia, Kendrick Perkins, Marquis Daniels, Willie Green, Jason Kapono, Luke Walton, Matt Bonner, James Jones, Carlos Delfino, Matt Carroll, Brian Cook, Keith McLeod, Linton Johnson, Ronald Dupree, and Richie Frahm.

...So I have no doubt Pritchard will be a stand-up guy and give us the best pick available.

You forgot to list Nedzad Sinanovic... also Collison was long gone (#12) when Travis was selected.
