"Rockets general manager Daryl Morey was not sure where he would be or if he would be where he could watch tonight's NBA draft lottery (6:30 p.m., ESPN).

It doesn't matter. He is 98.18 percent sure there will be nothing to see, at least for the Rockets.

Morey likely will be in Chicago preparing for this week's draft combine when the NBA begins revealing team logos to announce the lottery results. He was not sure if he would reach his hotel in time to see the results.

With the Rockets slotted 14th, they have just a .5 percent chance of moving up to the first pick, a .59 percent chance of landing the second pick and a .73 percent chance of getting the third pick of the June 24 draft.

"We'll know whether to celebrate really quickly," Morey said. "We're having a party (a wine-tasting for season-ticket holders built around the lottery) for 10 minutes, and then we'll see where we pick."

The mathematician in Morey precludes him from ignoring the odds but also prevents him from getting too excited about getting a chance at the top players expected to be up for grabs — Kentucky guard John Wall, Kentucky center DeMarcus Cousins and Ohio State guard Evan Turner.

Morey won't be carrying any good-luck charms. The Rockets are not sending anyone to be in the room for the lottery, as is customary, with only guard Aaron Brooks making the trip to Secaucus, N.J., to be on the set for the display of the results."

I'm curious to see what the Rockets do this off season. They seem to be a team in limbo because of Yao's health. Last off season they got younger and more athletic, but with Yao coming back do they continue with a youth movement or do they add more veterans to the mix? I'm not sure how Kevin Martin & Ariza are going to mesh with him.

What does the team do with Shane Battier?
