I didn't like reading that either. I was under the impression his fracture has completely heeled. Will it take that much time to get his strength back and his knee ready?
Im going to assume they aren't promising anything for a reason. If they say he MIGHT be ready now....then when TC comes around and he actually is....we are all happy...if he isn't..well then we have nothing to be upset over.
Rice said on Wheels at Work yesterday that the Trail Blazer brass told Oden they wanted him to stay in Portland and work with our trainers.
From talks about if GO can play in the playoffs to he might be ready for training camp? What happend? That was an awfully quick lucrative deal for Camby, is there something we don't know?
Yeah, just about anything of substance. That won't stop people around here from offering up opinions ranging from Greg will be the starting center on opening night to he'll never play again.
Smart move keeping the expectations low. Oden may have done himself a disservice saying he'll be back by the playoffs, because he was really the only one that thought so. You didn't get anyone else saying it was more than just maybe possible. Blake Griffin missed the whole season with the same injury I think, and he was just finally cleared to play basketball yesterday with no restrictions. Long time until the season starts, as long as Oden isn't experiencing setbacks I'm happy. Medina himself said he was right on schedule.
Well maybe there is a reason why the Blazers are interested in trading up to the third or fourth pick after all? In any case, training camp is a ways off and I've maintained that if he gets to July and is cleared for full workouts and all basketball related activities then there should be enough time for him to not only get in shape but to also start shaking off some of the rust that will have accumulated over the past 7 months. Crossing my fingers.
Don't cross your fingers - donate your knee ligaments and bone structure along with the rest of us, so that they may have a pool of body parts to take from to rebuild them both.
Well considering I already have a donated cadaver's achilles tendon in place of my original ACL, a torn meniscus and a pile of scar tissue, I'll let them scavenge off of somebody else.
If I hadn't taken a hard line on Oden's sitting on his mother's sofa, Pritchard would have let him atrophy this summer just like last summer. I'll continue to maintain my guardian stance to ensure that we get a high value for our entertainment dollar.
Exactly. We kept hearing about how Oden might be back in time for the playoffs, and now we're hearing that he has a "good chance" of being ready for training camp???? What in the world is going on?
