Moving down to 6 makes this pick a lot easier to trade. Apparently Bosh has decided that he wants an S&T because doing so would net him 30 million more than signing somewhere as a UFA. Additionally he wants to go somewhere where he would be the #1 guy. I think he could certainly see being the top guy here, especially since our new "best player" is a distributing PG. Some combination of Monta, the #6 pick, Biedrins (Colangelo seems to like him and they need a C), Randolph, Wright, Morrow, etc. sounds like a pretty good return for Toronto. Would Monta, 6th pick, Randolph be enough to get Bosh (maybe add in a mid level salary if Bosh is going to be making a ton- Azu, Vlad rad, or whoever)? How about Monta/Beans/6th pick? Beans, 6th pick, Randolph, Morrow/Reggie Williams/CJ Watson? Monta, Beans, 6th pick, Wright? Monta, Beans, Randolph, and swap 6th pick for Raps' 13th pick? There are a lot of possibilities. How do you guys think our club would fare building around Curry and Bosh? Would Bosh even want to come here?
Getting Bosh would be ideal. That's why it will never happen. The Warriors aren't in an ideal situation like Chicago or New York. There are way too many things that need to happen for a max contract player coming to GS, including said player wanting to come here. As far as I'm concerned, no max contract player would want to be here. Unless new ownership proves otherwise. It sucks, but it's true. That's why not getting the #1 or #2 pick sucks. We just have to wait and see. I hope they trade the pick for something, anything. I do not want to see another young prospect coming to this team only to fail to live up to expectations or get shipped out.
Some random thoughts since I have not been keeping up with draft picks. I just watched a few games in the NCAA tourney this season. Good teams make a promise where the Warriors pick in order to lessen the competition. However, those are good teams so it probably won't help the Warriors. I'm with trading the pick in a S&T if we can lure someone like all-star Chris Bosh. I'm not sure about trying to get free agents like Amare or Joe Johnson in a S&T. These guys do well in regular season, but fade in the playoffs as they have been exposed for lack of defense or other deficiencies. David Lee remains intriguing, but maybe he's not a go to guy. I think we still need a go to guy. We already tried Monta and he didn't exactly work out either. You're giving away the candy store in order to lure Bosh. We grudgingly give up a potential all-star in Monta, an expiring contract, a first round draft pick, a promising young player in Wright and Corey Maggette to make the numbers work. That sounds like a fair offer. Very fair. More than fair. Mags can get to the line...
Cole Aldrich? He's a good fit for Don Nelson. However, the Suns vs Lakers and others are showing that a team needs someone with a back to the basket low post game, defense and rebounding to go deep in the playoffs. Hint: Pau, Dwight and KG.
