Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-0) Ugh I feel sick. I just paid my registration fee to CSU San Marcos. Fuck me sideways. Now, time to go birthday shopping for the GF.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-0) lol fuck boston? you wishing we don't meet in the finals huh buddy?
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-0) I was a little sad about the Cavs, but Magic are whatever. But God this will be fun to play against them again. ;] I want Scola fouls on those green jerseys, don't hold back.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-0) 3 free throws to 20 at the half Well this game is obviously not fixed.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-0) Is there a reason why we keep jacking up treys? We're 7/27 from outside, there's no point in continuing to jack them up. Take advantage of the size advantage and allow Kobe to dribble drive to the hoop and we'll make this come back, or at least make it more interesting. Also, nothing like a little home cooking for the Suns. Can you say BS game thus far? 36 FTs to our 18? Disgusting.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-0) I'm glad the refs decided the outcome of this game. The Lakers didn't help themselves that much by jacking up 32 threes, but still, this game was a pile of shit. The refs were giving the Suns everything, as noted by the fact that they got 42 FTs to our 20. Whatever. They still only beat us by 9, despite getting 22 more FTs than us, having only 7 TOs to our 17, and having Artest, Odom and the entire bench being awful tonight.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-1) I figured we'd lose 1 of the 2 in Phoenix. The zone really threw us off in the 2nd half. A couple of those foul calls on Bynum were just plain horse shit and eliminated him of even getting a chance to establish himself, basically making it 5 on 4 because Odom did jack shit tonight. We'll come back and take game 4 and close out in 5, though.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-1) still waiting for Bynum to show up and give us something. Anything. He was outplayed by Robin Lopez, which is fucking pathetic. This is three years in a row now that he has been completely unreliable in the playoffs. If he doesn’t step up soon it’s time to ship his ass out in the offseason.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-1) Bynum was solid against Utah. If he wasn't scoring, he was playing great defense. Pretty good against OKC, too. This is a horrible matchup for Bynum. Add to the fact that you couldn't even breathe on Amar'e tonight and you're going to have a horse shit game. The refs nullified him before he could even get a chance to establish himself. They also did a damn good job of keeping it that way for Odom and Gasol, too. I'm not saying he's been amazing, but he's been solid. 1st everyone bitches about him trying to be too productive offensively and want him to focus on defense...now he's focusing on defense and it still isn't enough. I don't know what you expect from a 22 year old kid who is playing with a meniscus tear. He's been solid defensively, which is all we need from him. If Kobe and Gasol can't produce the offense, then we're fucked either way. I was disappointed in Kobe's 3rd quarter when Phoenix started playing zone. He didn't really attack it. As a team, we didn't attack it. We settled for too many 3's and it absolutely killed us. Attack the zone, win the game. That was all we had to do. As for Drew, I think he's got a pretty big dilemma on his hands right now. He's only 22. I don't think he's done growing and filling out his frame and his footwork is very awkward at times. This is probably a big reason why he has so many knee problems. Hopefully when he's done growing @ about 25, he can learn to play with his size and the proper footwork and alleviate a lot of the stress he puts on his lower half. If he can't do that, he's going to have a lot of nagging injuries in his career.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-1) If this series gets tied, we're not beating Boston this year.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-1) Drew played good against Kristic and OKL. Big deal, that should be expected. His play only got worse when he tore his meniscus against the Jazz. He was completely ineffective tonight and hasn't done anything all series. I'll go as far to say that Robin Lopez has pretty much equaled or surpassed his play, which is very disappointing. His play has been so bad that Phil is even considering sitting him out for Game 4: http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/news/story?id=5213823 I know you love Drew and you're a big supporter, but you've got to be kidding yourself if you say you're happy with his play. I don't see any difference from the Bynum we are witnessing now to the Bynum that was in the postseason last year, and his play last year was a complete joke. His play has been limited because of a torn meniscus, which is precisely my point. He is completely unreliable. And he has been unreliable in the postseason three years in a row. Now obviously there is still time and games left for him to turn it around, but the injury won't get better until the offseason, when he receives surgery. If he continues to play this way Mitch and Co. will be idiots not to shop him around in the offseason. Are we seriously going to continue to wait on him to fulfill his "potential" when Kobe/Pau are going on 30? I'm sick and tired of waiting on this guy and all the excuses he is being given. His play so far has been piss poor, and his play tonight was absolutely terrible. Phil, and Bynum himself agree with that assessment.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-1) Hill's face looking at Steve's broken nose was priceless, hahah. Damn, that looked bad though. He clearly broke it, it was completely dented and Steve was trying to force it back together hahaha.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-1) And your point? There is no need to play Bynum this series. It's a horrible matchup for him. Odom + Pau is much more appropriate for a team with Phoenix's pace. Playing Bynum against them in the 1st place is a horrible decision. That is the luxury of having 3 damn good players who can play PF/C. Bynum is a matchup best served for Boston, a team who plays slow and physical. Blame Phil for even trying to trot Bynum out there instead of resting him this series. And to say he hasn't done anything all series is pretty fucking stupid. Did you watch game 2? 13 and 7 in 18 minutes? Hm...I'm pretty damn sure that is great production for someone playing bench minutes. Tonight we didn't look to establish him nor did he get a chance to establish a rhythm. And his defense against Utah was damn solid. I don't know what you're expecting out of him, but for a 3rd/4th option he's been pretty good. And either way, we're stuck with him. Nobody in the league is going to trade anything valuable for him because of concerns over his knee, at least not until he's completely done growing in a few years and we can evaluate his health after a few seasons after being 24, 25 years old. The whole point of signing Bynum to an extension was for him to take over the reigns as a top 2 option on the team after Kobe and Gasol are on their way out of their primes. So having him being a major producer when Gasol is over 30 is pretty much the plan and has been the plan since they gave him that extension.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-1) If Phoenix is such a bad matchup for him how did he end up averaging 18/10 against them in the four matches of the regular season? It doesn't add up, he is clearly limited once again thanks to injury. I agree that we don't need him this series, but we'll obviously need him if we end up facing Boston. His injury isn't going to get any better with rest, he needs surgery. He had practically a week off after the Utah series and he said it felt worse. Having more time off won't heal anything. That being said, there are more games left to be played. If he plays his role and steps up when we need him, all this will be forgotten. However, I'm seeing flashbacks of the Andrew Bynum we saw last year in the playoffs, and if that is the Bynum we end up getting, then it's obvious that he is completely unreliable and I look to trade him for a starting PG and C in the offseason.
Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Suns (Lakers lead 2-1) We can shop him, but we won't fetch more for him. I put it both on the front office and on Drew for not getting the minor knee surgery required to scope his knee when the problem first came up. I think tonight was more of him being too aggressive on defense and putting himself at Amar'e's mercy to jump into him and draw contact more than his knee bothering him. He looked bad, but the foul trouble which haunted him all night had nothing to do with his knee. We'll see come Boston, though. I'm fine with his performance if it is just defense he brings to us. We shouldn't have to rely on his scoring with Kobe and Gasol on this team.
