Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? With the Redskins revamped with Randell El, the Cowboys with T.O. and the Eagles who should be back to normal in 07, you think the Giants have a chance at winning their divison again? This year I think Eli might come back with a vengeance and act more maturely and smartly when he makes plays. Their best offense is through running the ball with Tiki barber, so they have to go to Barber a lot more often. Unless Eli is ready to start connecting for long throws with Plaxico Burres, Jeremey Shockey and Amani Toomer. As for the defense, Michael Strahan keeps everything solid, but they need a little help. thoughts?
Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? The Giants will win the NFC East this year. Philly is going to be horrible, Washington still doesn't have what it takes and Dallas may give it a run but I see NYG winning it. The Giants have the ever-improving young stud Eli Manning not to mention Tiki Barber in the back-field and standout wideout Plaxico Burress with one of the better defenses in the league, the Giants will repeat as NFC East Champs.
Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan are monsters in putting pressure and sacking the quarterback. They have a great team and I don't see why they can't win it again.Eli will only get better and hopefully Tiki will put up solid numbers again.
Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? I think they will repeat, but they are very shaky. If Tiki Barber gets injured they are screwed. I don't know how he can do it he's getting older and he runs it so much, he had such an amazing 2 years..but I'm confident he can get at least 1500 yards.Plaxico did the disappearing act in the post-season and I'm not happy about that, hopefully Sinorice Moss can become a good #3 slot receiver and Shockey is Shockey. With the additions of Umenyiora, Madison, McQuarters, Demps, our defense should be top10 if not it's a disappointment and this might be our year to push for the SB. Hopefully Barber can hold up.The Redskins did too much buying and had the worst draft in the NFL, they won't go anywhere you can't buy a SB ring. The Cowboys if they are not amazing will get problems with T.O. and Bledsoe is older and they lost Larry Allen, Laroi Glover and everyone got older on the O-Line..and Terry and T.O. are both old we don't know if they are going to be as great as last year...By the way, Randle-El sucks dude, he's not doing anything for them. He's always been a #3 receiver, maybe a #4, but just because the trick plays with Whisenhunt it made him look good. He's a small target with bad hands, he's nothing great he's HIGHLY overpaid (well in the back end of the contract..he's not seeing the 4th year of that deal I guarantee it) and they did not improve that much and Brunell is older now too.
Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? They need an other pro bowl performance from Barber and a consistent passing year for Eli for them to have a chance at this. I honestly dont know right now. The East is going to be such a battle. All 4 of those teams could win it. It will be very interesting to say the least. But I predict the Giants to come in last with a 8-8 record. They have a pretty poor defensive backfield and their defense is still very young. I dont know..In any other division they could probably win though. Which is pretty funny.
Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? We need to get some really young defensive lineman and a young running back, just in case Michael Strahan, Umeniyara, McQuarters get injured or if Tiki gets injured, and wont ever be the same, they can have a fresh new guy. I think the defense has improved a lot over this offseason CB4. Actually I dont even get why I doubted my team 10 minutes ago, lol. I think we have 25% chance of winning it. But so does Philly, Washington and Dallas. We'll see how it plays out, but I definitely can see him throwing for around 30 touchdowns this season, as he did have 24 last season. His interceptions will be high, probably however. But i think after a few years his interceptions will go down. he gets a lot of them, but then again so did Peyton back when he was a rookie and sophmore. Eli just has to be smart and patient. He cant be like me when I play Madden 06 (im so impatient and i go for 4th downs everytime and i make crazy throws, lmao)
Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? I think they have a really good chance of winning again. Tiki Barber should be putting up similar numbers to last year, eli manning should grow as a qb even more and start making more and better passes to burress and toomer. They also have arguably the best defensive duo in the league w/ Strahan and Osi Umenyiora. Also they got a good young talent in Sinorice Moss in the draft. I think a repeat is in the midst for them next year.
Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? They wont. Washington is still there, and Cowboys are comeing even harder next season

McQuarters, Peterson is a good #2 and we added Will Demps a solid starter in Baltimore and Gibril Wilson at SS a rising star.A young defense, laugh, laugh, laugh, hahahahahah!Michael Strahan, going on what 14 years pro?Antonio Pierce, turning what? 27 or 28?Lavar Arrington 27 or 28?Carlos Emmons, in his 30s.Osi Umenyiora, 25?Sam Madison, 31?R.W. McQuarters, 29?Will Demps, 26?William Joseph? 26?These numbers aren't accurate but our defense is not in anyway young and either way we have great veteran leaders. We've got no rookies on defense and all of these guys mean business. The only question mark is Arrington but I think after going months of not being picked up by a team I think he will get a reality check and with Coughlin he will at least learn to get to practice on time, lol.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Lazy @ May 15 2006, 07:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>They wont. Washington is still there, and Cowboys are comeing even harder next season</div>Cowboys coming harder? Besides Terrell Owens, what has happened? They drafted a replacement LB, they lost a Pro Bowler, one of the best ever, Larry Allen, another one at DT La'Roi Glover, Fujita left, Nguyen left, Aaron Glenn is now what 33 or 34, Bledsoe is older, Owens hasn't played in a year and Glenn is old too. Witten dropped alot in performance last year and JJ has consistency issues. Not to mention how injury prone the O-line is with Flozell Adams at LT toutside of T.O. and Glenn, and maybe Witten..who's good receivers, none. On defense they have a ton of rookies and replacement players, no continuity at all.Redskins: First off, you cannot BUY a Super Bowl team in free agency. They got an overrated (HIGHLY) WR in Randle-El who I predict under 350 yards receiving, Brandon Lloyd who has good hands but is not a high quality WR, Brunell is older, the O-line is older (alot of players entering 30s now) and defensively they have a weak secondary and they have two DTs always injured.

I think Redskins are overated, Eagles have no WR's and the Cowboys are okay, but i just dont think they are as good as the Giants.
Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? People overrate Dallas, yes they added T.O. who is a HUGE improvement over Keyshaun Johnson but they havent really rounded out anything. They still have a terrible o-line, and like it's always been if you blitz the cowboys your going to get a sack considering how slow Bledsoe has always been in the pocket. I would take the Redskins or Giants to win division, i'm not even sold on cowboys making the playoffs yet.
Re: Giants' chances of winning NFC East again? Okay, I've heard Dallas is overrated, and done nothing but add TO.Let me break it down.Yes they added TO, who is an upgrade over Keyshawn for sure. Glenn will get doubled less, which will make him more dangerous than he was last year, or they'll double him and not TO...and we know what will happen there.Witten will have a better year, he didn't have a bad one last year BTW, because of the coverages for TO and Glenn, and the combination of Barber and JJ will benifit from the defenses having to respect, or over compesate for TO, Glenn, and Witten. The Oline isn't as bad as made out. Look the Cowboys were 6-3 when Flozell went out for the season, and that was with a rookie Pettiti starting at RT. Now Flozell is back at 100%, and Pettiti is a year older, plus they added Jason Fabini so the Tackle positons are solid and better than they were last year. Losing LA is bad for the organization, but the guy isn't what he was, and SF will see that after a few games. The Cowboys did sign a good replacement for him in Kosier and they still have Marco Rivera(who never had a chance to recover from a back problem last year) and Andre Gurode, plus the 3rd round pick a few years ago in Stephen Peterman. On defense your looking at a team that's playing in the same type of defense for a second year in a row, which there is always an improvement from year one to year too in a particular defense.Marcus Spears, Chris Canty, and Jay Ratliff will all improve in their second year in the league, and along with Ferguson, Ellis, and Coleman they'll form a very nice defensive line rotation. They lost Glover, but he didn't really have a position, and wasn't that much of a factor in the new 3-4 defense anyways. At LB they'll have an improved LB corps, even more than the good one they had last year. Ware was only outplayed as a rookie by Shawn Merriman, but still had 8 sacks and WILL improve in his second year in a new position. Bradie James came on strong last year as the MLB, and adding Akin Ayodele and 1st round pick Carpenter will make it one of the better LB corps in the division and the NFC. They have a bunch of solid backups as well. The secondary, particularly the FS position, was the biggest problem on the defense, besides youth. Newman had his best season, and Henry was the big physical corner the Boys' wanted. Roy is still one of the most feared players on game day. The Cowboys paid the money to keep their 16 game starter, Keith Davis, at FS, and added a very good vet in Marcus Coleman to bring along FS draft pick Pat Watkins.Oh and they signed a big time kicker to solve their kicking woes. I mean the Cowboy literally lost 3 games because of a missed FG, and 4 games by less than 3 points. So let's check the Cowboy's off season needs off:More dynamic at WR- Just saying they added TO doesn't begin to say enough.Getting better on the Oline- Losing Larry Allen hurts, but adding Kosier and Fabini, plus Flozell and Rivera getting healthy, and Pettiti getting better in the offseason all leads to a better Oline, WITH depth.3-4 defense getting better- The second year a team plays in a defense they always show improvement, plus the young guys, namely 4 draft picks from last year; Ware, Canty, Spear, and Ratliff, improving makes a huge difference from year one to 2. They were a about a top 10 defense last year, and should get better.Addressing the FS position- This was the defenses achilles heel last year. They kept Keith Davis, so they have experience, and added a very crafty Vet in Marcus Colemen, and drafted a good FS in Pat Watkins from Florida St...so they did improve at the position. And the big one, adding an established kicker- Adding Vanderjagt is going to be big improvement for this team.Basically I think the Boys are going to win the Division, but the NYG's will be right there with a chance too as well.
