UPDATE: Steve Kyler of HOOPSWORLD has more on this: "The Spurs are one of several teams trying to move up in the draft, likely into the Top 5, with sources at the Combine saying that Philadelphia and New Jersey have made it clear they'd trade their picks for the right price ... Favors said his meeting with the Spurs was good, and that he felt like the Spurs were trying to move up to get him.

"Sources close to the Spurs labeled their Combine as routine shopping and cautioned not to read to much into it. But there is no doubting that San Antonio spent a large chunk of their 18 interview slots on players well outside their reach according to their current draft position."

Back on Tuesday, we touched on the prospects of Tiago Splitter -- a 2007 draft selection of the Spurs -- finally joining the team for the 2010-2011 season.

While the Spurs are hopeful the big man joins the team, he's non-committal at the moment.

And if Splitter decides not to come to America, it's possible the team could have a backup plan: Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors.

Favors is projected to go third in the draft to the New Jersey Nets, but according to Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News, he told the Associated Press he thinks the team may trade up to get him.

"I feel like they're trying to make a move to try and get me," Favors told the Associated Press.

The Spurs are currently slated to pick 20th, and their best trade chip comes in the form of Tony Parker.

It seems unlikely the Spurs would give up Parker for Favors, but if they were also able to get Devin Harris back in return, they'd have a quality point guard to replace him.

This is an interesting scenario. I also heard Rockets are looking to move into Top 10 and are willing to pay cash. If someone doesn't fall to Utah that they like, I could see Utah trading down and snagging some cash to help maybe keep guys like Boozer or Korver while lowering the rookie salary they are going to pay.
