He gives his all on both ends of the floor at all times (except for maybe the 2nd half of game 7 lol). I definitely don't think he deserves first team and Kobe should never be put over Bruce Bowen who is one of the premier defenders in the league.Kobe has improved on defense his last few years but he never seems to convince me.

well the thing with Kobe is that he's a great defender when he wants to be. Watch his games and you'll find him playing incredibly inconsistently. When the pressure's on, and especially in crunch time he's got his man on lock-down. But then you'll see long stretches with him very loosely defending. You can see this even more so with T-Mac.
When he wants to be. Thats the key phrase. Good defenders arent good sometimes, whenever they feel like playing defense. You can't give an Defensive 1st Team to a lazy defender. Sure he plays defense when the game is tied and theres 10 seconds left, who wouldnt play defense then?
Gerald Wallace doesn't get much love in this thread, he's a very good one on one defender and he gets you 2 blocks and 2 steals a game. Come on folks. Kobe is way too high on these lists.
Wtf is wrong with you guys, Bruce Bowen isn't a f*cking Sg hes a small forwardPG- Chauncy Billups, Gary Payton, Jason KiddSG- Raja Bell, Kobe Bryant, Gerald WallaceSF- Ron Artest, Andrei Kirilenko, Tayshaun PrincePF- Tim Duncan, Rasheed Wallace, Kevin GarnettC- Ben Wallace, Marcus Camby, Alonzo Mourning

Yea, your right though, he is always up in the face of the opposings teams best guard/foward.
Kobe bryant is an excellent defender when he applies himself [you cannot play elite defense when you have to literally carry a team day in, day out].Other than that, he's inconsistent but is still good. He isn't the best defender at sg, probably 3rd best. And to the person who put iverson on their lists because of his steals, you deserve a medal . I mean playing the passing lanes and gambling on D is great.

He isn't called "The Glove" for nothing.Like other players performance starts to go down when your age starts to go up.Despite his age he is still a good defender, maybe not one of the best but still up there.
Dwyane wade isent one of the top defenders in the league by any stretch of the imagination but he is a very underated defender and you could probaly make a good arguement about him being a top 5-10 defender at SG

He is limited in other ways, but defensively he is better than Paul or Payton in their stages of their careers.Steals can misleading. Going for a steal a lot of the time means you are gambling leaving your teammates behind you in a bind.
One player that I think everyone forgot but is a great defender. It is Eric Snow. He has done a good job on Chauncey Billups. Payton is no longer a great defender. He shouldn't be on that list.
