<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>MIAMI -- The Miami Dolphins saw enough potential in Marcus Vick -- both on- and off-the-field -- to believe he deserves a chance as a free agent.Vick, the brother of Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick, signed with the Dolphins on Monday, agreeing to a free-agent deal after his many problems at Virginia Tech cost him a chance to be selected in the NFL draft."As an organization, we did an enormous amount of research, including consulting with professionals in detailed, in-depth analysis to feel comfortable that giving Marcus an opportunity as a free agent is a risk worth taking," Dolphins coach Nick Saban said in a statement released by the team."I want to make it very clear that we will not condone any behavior issues in the future relative to Marcus Vick. Marcus acknowledges that he has made some mistakes, all of which has resulted in severe consequences for him. They have helped him learn that he will need to make much better choices and decisions in the future or risk similar consequences that could jeopardize his career as a professional player.""As an organization, we did an enormous amount of research, including consulting with professionals in detailed, in-depth analysis to feel comfortable that giving Marcus an opportunity as a free agent is a risk worth taking." -- Dolphins coach Nick SabanVick, who participated in a three-day mini-camp with the Dolphins earlier this month, completed 177 of 289 passes for 2,393 yards with 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, leading Virginia Tech to an 11-2 record and berth in the Atlantic Coast Conference title game in 2005.But his career with the Hokies included many transgressions. He made an obscene gesture to fans during a game at West Virginia, and stomped on Louisville player Elvis Dumervil's leg during the Gator Bowl.Vick was suspended by Virginia Tech for the 2004 season because of legal problems, then was eventually dismissed from the team after being stopped for speeding and driving with a revoked or suspended license. The Dolphins are listing Vick as a "wide receiver-quarterback-specialist," clearly indicating that he could be tried in a number of roles. The Dolphins are listing Vick as a "wide receiver-quarterback-specialist," clearly indicating that he could be tried in a number of roles.During the recent mini-camp, Vick spent at least one practice session at wide receiver, and probably isn't being looked at as a serious quarterback candidate -- not with newcomers Daunte Culpepper and Joey Harrington now at that position.Miami signed three other free agents Monday: tight end Keith Heinrich, linebacker Keith Newman and cornerback Michael Lehan.Heinrich was on Cleveland's injured reserve list for the entire 2005 season with a knee injury and has played in 18 games since being drafted by Carolina in 2002.Newman has played with Buffalo, Atlanta and Minnesota in seven seasons, starting 76 of 92 games and recording 407 tackles, 23 sacks, two interceptions, three fumble recoveries and seven forced fumbles.Lehan, like Vick, attended the rookie minicamp this month on a tryout basis. He spent the last three seasons with the Browns and made 32 appearances, including four starts.</div><div align="center">Source</div>Good signing for us. He may have had many past personal problems, but there's no question the guy is very talented and I think he is worth the risk. He could have easily been one of the top QBs taken in the draft if it were not for all the stupid sh*t he did. Now just have to hope he can keep his head straight and focus on football.
Whoever got him was bound to get a steal. I think it was right for him to go undrafted just to know NFL teams won't stand for his BS. With the Dolphins he can learn under a great and similar QB in Culpepper and under a coach who will keep him in line.If Marcus Vick screws up now I don't see anyone taking him, I mean Saban is a strict coach but he cares alot about his players and if he can't keep him, nobody will.I see Vick starting the pre-season games and hopefully can do something good and if Culpepper is not ready for Week 1 then he can go in. I would love to see the kid get a shot in the bigs, but if he can't handle himself off the field I don't care.
Before the Dolphins were having QB problems, now they have plenty of quarterbacks which is good.I'd like to see this kid get a chance,he can be better then his brother and if he can just fix his attitude I can see him being a starter in the future.I just hope we give him a chance to start.

I'm confident Saban will be able to bring some good to him, but if he can't, your right I doubt anyone else whould take a shot on him. He should also get some big pre-season minutes, whether it be at WR or QB, but very excited to see what he can do. Harrington will likely be the starter though, not Vick. There goes our problems at QB! :happy0144:
Possibly a steal for Dolphins. Im looking forward to see what they can do with him. Good season ahead of us all. Might take awhile to adapt, but sure has the tallent to be proven in the NFL. Lets see what will happen
I pretty much agree with everyone else. From a talent standpoint he's a great quarterback, but until he gets his act together, he cant possibly succeed in the NFL. If he decides to turn his life around, the Dolphins got an amazing steal.
He's not really that great. He was a mediocre college QB with high athletic ability...on a good team.
If I were a NFL owner I wouldn't want him in my organization. A person like that does not deserve to play drugs, rape, and on the field unsportsmanlike conduct. I don't want him on my team.

Harrington has starting experience in the NFL, and while he might not have done to well, i would much rather have starting experience in week one, than a rookie quarterback starting week one.I think this was a good quarterback in college, and could be a steal if his game gets right, and he stays out of trouble. He had pretty good touch on his passes, and his athleticism will help out to give him that extra edge. I think he will do good, especially learning behind Daunte Culpepper.
He'll shoot Joey, which isn't that bad. But what are the Dolphins doing with all these QB pickups in the offseason.
The bets begin. I give him until, September at the most before he is gone. Even that's a little too much....

The reason we got them is we had basically had no one behind an injured Daunte Culpepper and these signings give us some reliable depth until he's ready to go.
He will probably get most of his time at wide reciever. I can't see him getting any starts ahead of Daunte Culpepper and Joey Harrington.
We could definitely be using him in a variety of ways. It's pretty up in the air, exactly what he's going to do.We have him listed as QB/WR/Specialist.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>We have him listed as QB/WR/Specialist.</div>I doubt Marcus will comply with thatI'd say he either gets cut at camp or gets arrested for some type of controversial thing....if he can't handle the college level, I doubt he can handle the pro level. If he ever tries stomping on the back of someone's leg in the NFL, he will literally get killed.
