In the NBA, there are a ton of players that have been known to flop on defense to get calls their way. Most notoriously in the past has to be Vlade Divac, while right now it has to be Manu Ginobli. Do you guys like when players flop or do you hate it?I personally am in the middle of this. When its on a charge where a guy is trying to dunk on you and you have your feet set up for a charge, if you flop a little on that, i dont have a problem with it. My high school coach told us that you have to do a little acting on that. Lets just do an example here. If your a big post like lets say Erick Dampier who is 6-11 and wieighs 265 pounds. If a guy like Tony Parker is driving and Dampier steps up to take a charge, there is no way in hell that Tony is going to knock down Dampier. There has to be a little acting in that where you have to fall down. I've done it plenty of times in games where a little guy has knocked me down when he drove in the lane. Now in real life, could he of knocked me down? No, but i had to sell the call to get the call. Now the times i hate when players flop are when the guy is in the post and he kind of hooks the defender and the defender falls to the ground. The typical Vlade Divac against Shaq play. Those are the ones that i cant stand. I think that is along the lines of being dirty. Another play is when players pretend to get knocked down on screens and when a player grabs a rebound and turns and the defender turns and drops to the floor. Those type right there are the kind of plays Manu is known for doing. There are other circumstances where players flop, but you get the point i hope. Now I know every once in a while players actaully do get knocked down when doing these plays and i have no problem with them, but its when they flop, thats when it makes me mad. What do you guys think about Floppers??

I don't like flopping period...but your right about the Charge when there's a layup or somthing. But like in a Mavs/Spurs game, I saw Terry just put up his arm, as he stopped his dribble and turned around, because Ginobli was there...and as soon as his forarm "touched" Ginobli, he flew back like Terry had ran into him, when he had already turned around and wasn't even moving toward him...That's unnacceptable.

I can't stand it. It's close to cheating in my eyes. Just play the game, and if you get knocked down, you get knocked down. Don't fake it.

I hate it too. People use it on Shaq all the time, and it really pisses me off when the refs fall for it.

I think it depends on the play. if you flop on a play where contact is inevidable, than I think its ok. but when you're running ahead of the pack and the player behind you bearly bumps you, and you fall down(ala Manu Ginobili last night) than thats not a good thing.

You can't use your elbow to clear out space

Its not right to try to get someone to foul you when they never iniciated any contact. It's okay if you take a charge becuase thats just part of basketball and without that it would just be streetball. But what Manu does is just wrong.

I hate floppers. They dont prove a point. They flop for reason to make themselfs look good. Dont fall unless you were fouled to fall, not to make the foul get called on the other person. You're in the NBA, getting payed millions and you flop, just doesnt make since

Hate em. In the later stages of the game, there will be a possesion where you have and just because someone flops, means you threw the ball over. Flopping is terrible because it takes away a valuable possesion that your team should have had.

I hate flopping but in today's game it's just as natural apart of the game as anything else now. Everyone flops at some point, that's just how it is.

Dirk isn't a flopper...I almost never see him hit the floor unless he's tripped or knocked down after a layup...

I thought it was pretty funny when I saw him hurt his foot doing it.On a side note, it seems like most European players are floppers...

I know he rolled his ankle when his foot landed on TD...but that wasn't a flop, it was before he even put the ball up...I wouldn't count that as a flop.

It's all strategy, but if someone is a notorious flopper in their career, shoot in just one game, they stop getting the calls for it. Ask Vlade Divac.I don't hate floppers, if their going to call it, you'd be braindead not to do it.
