Altidore is day to day with a sprained ankle. He's not likely to play Saturday against Australia, but its still up for question whether or not they'll be ready. X-rays were negative.

Latest from the England camp:

Ferdinand has been taken to the hospital for a scan on his knee after a 'routine tackle' in training. These are brand new reports so there isn't much information on the injury. More to follow.

 

Update: Ferdinand will miss the World Cup. Fuck.

I have no idea how I put Algeria above Slovenia. +1 to Baracuda.

 

England and USA.

Most predictions I've read have England and the United States moving on to the next round. I don't think these individuals have any idea of the capabilities of Slovenia or Algeria. If the United States can keep their confidence high regardless of the result against England then they stand a good chance of making it through to the next round. If England lose to the United States coming into their match overconfident then the entire tournament will be a huge disaster. This is very unlikely, but it isn't impossible. Slovenia defeated a strong Russian team in qualification to get to the World Cup finals and played very well against England a few months ago. Their stubborn defense only allowed 4 goals in qualification, so discounting them is a huge mistake. Algeria defeated the defending African Cup of Nations winners and their northern rivals Egypt in a huge clash to get here. Both Slovenia and Algeria could provide nail biters against the United States and England to turn this entire group upside down.

 

I wouldn't discount Slovenia but I'm still keeping Algeria in the shadows. They did beat their biggest rivals to qualify, but I don't they deserved it at all.

I actually like England and would be happy with any outcome from the game. I hope England go far in the tournament.

USA 2 - 3 England

england is just too much talent for the US. (IMHO)

I put 5 bucks on the score being England 3-2 USA, to win 150.

 

England need to win today because I can't see them beating Slovenia. Slovenia have all the right tools to withstand and even defeat the Three Lions. The United States can beat England, but they have to play the way they did for most of the confederations cup by giving it all for 90 + minutes. Anyone that believes England will win simply based on history between the two sides is a fool.

 

Anyone who thinks that there is history between the teams is a fool. We last met 50 years ago but the American media act like we've had a huge rivalry all these years. Sweet, you guys declared independence from us. I'm just looking forward to a good game.

 

Rivalry is when you're in same continent and you play each other year after year.

US media is shit according to me.
