They don't want his contract anymore than the Heat do. Why would the Nets help the Heat get more capspace when they're going to be competing against them in free agency?

The message seems to be that the Nets are very confident they are going to land the FAs they are targeting.

If true, that tells me Beasley still has some major off the court issues.

Sounds like Rod Thorn is making things up/embellishing again.

Beasley for pretty much free? KP should jump all over that imo.

For two more years and getting 16+ PER production off of the bench on a rookie contract, why not? Webster alone should do the trick if Miami is serious.

    I call bullshit.

I bet MIA asked for #3 as well.

You're missing the point. If Miami is going to make a trade, they want to put them in a better position to sign FAs this summer.

I guess I am missing the point. It's a $1 million difference for this summer, but with no income tax in Florida, that difference is made up on a large contract almost immediately. I'd think the Heat and the player's agent would point this out to the player.

All of the partying in South Beach must really be too much for this kid to handle. Then again if he came here, the interminable rain, ridiculously tepid nightlife and lily white composition of Portland might cause him to do even more drugs and go absolutely bat-shit insane.

Don't know where your getting $1 mil from, Beasily is owed 5 million which could be the difference between getting a second elite free agent.

I think he's referring to the difference between Webster and Beasley's contracts, what PapaG fails to understand is that only 500K of Dooling's contract is guaranteed for next season, so if the Heat traded B-easy for Dooling they could cut him and only have to pay him 500 thousand, saving them nearly five million a year. The Heat don't want to trade him for another contract, they want to trade him to widen their capspace by about 5 million/year.

Well if you actually look at the moves NJ has made over the last few years, they really haven't been that smart. That alone might explain why they didn't do it. Of course Kiki is gone now, so that might change, but it doesn't look to at the moment.
