Living amongst the Longhorn fans, I can assure you that they are all for a merger. It means a lot of money to each school because of the massive tv contract that the conference would get. It would also give the conference 3 time zones. Word is that Fox and ABC would bid a lot of money for it because they could show multiple games per day because of the time zone differences. It would be a huge financial win for every team int he Pac 10 as well as the teams coming from the Big 12

And Texas and Oklahoma play each other every year in the "Red River Rivalry". The game is played in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl. Then there is a Big 12 championship game. There would be no difference to either school.

Not to mention basketball, baseball and track. All three of these sports would be dominated by the new conference on a National level.

The National exposure teams in the NW would get would be unreal. Plus, Texas seems to be the new hot spot for NW teams to recruit from. Perfect match IMO.

Actually that's a good point. The increased exposure Pac-10 teams would get in Texas would be of great benefit in recruiting.

The Pac-10 would dominate two of the three biggest football recruiting grounds in the country in California and Texas. I'm not going to hold my breath, but this would be unreal. Much harder to win the conference this way for your favorite team, but there'd be a lot more money which I'm sure is the biggest motivating factor. I read somewhere that the revenue for the Pac-10 is greater than they get in the Big XII.

I'm going to go ahead and say that UTexas is probably the domino that starts the chain of events. Whatever they do will have the greatest impact on the outcome.

You can if you figure out that there's a better direction to go, and convince others to go that way with you.

i would like this depending on how they figure out the football schedule. texas, a&m, colorado, kansas, ou, and osu would make the most sense to me. no reason to include teams like texas tech or kansas state.

    I love the idea.

Hopefully the Big 10 expands too, then the winner of the Rosebowl could play in a national championship game. Have the Orange bowl or whatever decide the opponent from the other conferences.

Why would Texas want Baylor? They hate Colorado?

If this were to happen, the winner of the conference should undoubtedly play for the National Championship. It only makes sense being as this would easily be the toughest conference in the country. Well that's always the SEC's excuse anyways.

I wonder if legal challenges to the exclusion of Baylor (which I think is ridiculous) could end up leaving Texas Tech behind?

Baylor is in Texas, while Colorado is in .....well....Colorado.

I'm not sure people understand how proud of a state Texas is. Most here really stick together, as an us vs the world
