Minus firing Nate and doing a complete overhaul, this is probably as close as we're going to get to finding a guy Nate won't feel threatened by (because of their prior relationship). At worst, Nate fails even with a veteran assistant like Bickerstaff and PA will be able to fire the entire group and start over with a different regime if the team fails to advance out of the first round next year. At best, he helps Nate diversify and tweak the offense and the team makes a deep playoff run and (mostly) everybody is (mostly) happy.
So you're saying that Allen, by hiring McMillan's friend and trusted colleague, is setting McMillan up to be more easily fired in the future? Diabolical. You could be a Vulcan!
Look at the bright side. They could have hired PJ Carlesimo, like Toronto did a few days ago. Hell at the rate Toronto is making bad decisions, I would be looking to make a trade with them. They might just bite on a bad deal.
Fuck this. The Seattle people bring in another coach that has zero offensive excitement. I HATE THE VULCANS.
I have a strong feeling that Bickerstaff will eventually take over for KP. No idea when, but when it happens, the Vulcans will then have all of THEIR people in place.
Yes, I guess I am not as smart as you. But lets just say that BB is getting up there in age, so the stress of a full time assistant coaches job is too much for him now. So then working with possibly one of the best big men prospects in years might be a position he is interested in. But again I am just mortal, not a super intelligent being like yourself, so your comon knowledge is far beyond my realm of thinking.
@BlazerFreeman: Coach Nate McMillan on the rumor that the Blazers have hired Bernie Bickerstaff as an asst coach: "Absolutely false. Absolutely false."
