I wouldn't say it's a 'very bad day'. It sucks, but if this team's success is hinged on Monty Williams, it was already a bad year.

I'm a fan of his, but nothing like over-reacting. For all we know he could be like Dwane Casey, another former Nate assistant, who was supposed to be a great coach too. He didn't do jack.

Congratulations to Monty. He'll be missed.

That said, I hardly see this as some horrible downer for the Blazers. There are many good coaches around the league that would be good additions to the team.

The loss of an assistant who was so good with wing players like Batum is bad. KP brought Monty in, so now Nate or the vulcans will bring someone in. I trust KP more than either

He had a great relationship with the players! They respect him and you would be amazed how much work he has put in with Travis then Nic and this past season everyday with Dante and Pendergraf! He will be missed, that is for sure!

I hate to see Monty go. But like all good assistant coaches, Monty was going to get his shot at some point. I wish him the best.

In general, I don't think young up and coming coaches who have the style of being a players coach works well . . . but every coach and team is different. It will be interesting to see the relationship between Monty and CP . . . Monty is going to a team that has a clear superstar which I think makes it even more challeging for him. He needs to gain the respect and bond with CP, IMO.

No matter how long the deal is, let's hope it doesn't end like Terry Porter's gig.

This is a loss, to be sure. Good for NOLA. I hope Monty succeeds.

I suspicion that TP could very well be the replacement.

I wish we could have kept him for a few more years to help Nic.

He had done wonders with our wings.

No doubt this is a loss for us. Monty has been so great for our team and worked his tail off. This is the kind of reward he should get. You take out the injuries NO had last year and they are a pretty good team.

I think it is a credit to Nate et al. that they produced a new head coach. I don't think the loss of Monty is that big a deal, however, as far as the blazer chances next year.
