Doc isn't retiring.....he is just smart enough to realize that the Celtics job is not going to be a great one as his aging stars get older. When Doc leaves the Celtics it won't be b/c he is finished coaching. He is proven to be one of the top coaches in the league the past few years
This is the only coaching choice I think that would make me happy about that situation. There are a lot of player quotes about him, but none of them talk about his X & O skills, just about his ability to relate to stars and to put together a good defense. If those quotes bear out, maybe Rose regresses? And Noah, too.
Jeff Van Gundy has said that people sleep on wat hes able to do on offense as well. Does that help? lol
