The more and more I think about it the more and more I like the Mavericks to win it all. I think they are the only team in the west than can handle the Pistons (who lets face it are not playing as well as they should).

Well, they have a great chance at it. Most likely will be beating the Spurs. They have a very good team that could do it. But, I don't think they will beat the Suns. The Finals would be interesting with them and the Miami Heat.

It would be a great year to win it. Mavs have been good in the recent years. But this year the team seems to click more. Has more of a power threat in the NBA going up against other teams. Everyone is tired of Spurs and Pistons...lets give Mavs a chance

The key to the Suns like the spurs series is Devin Harris. Last year Jason Terry, Josh Howard, and Michael Finley were forced to guard Steve Nash. None of them have the quickness to slow him down. I think Devin Harris has that. Also who on the suns can keep up with Devin Harris. Parker has as good of chance as any to guard him but hasn't done it so why would be able to? The nightmare matchup for the mavs is at the center position. Dallas has centers that are built to play against big men but Tim Thomas and Boris Diaw are SF's and it will force them to guard the perimeter.

The one thing i notice is that is different this year from years past is that when the Mavericks get a big lead, teams used to make runs at them and get back into the game very easily. This year i think they are mentally tough and of course better at defense, and they are able to hold thier leads and are able to stay in control of the game. They have been able to control the tempo in just about every playoff game they've played. Every time they have to come up with a clutch play, a loose ball, a key rebound, and key whatever it is, they get it. The cards are just falling in place for them. They could finish the Spurs off tonight, and get rest for the western conference finals because Clippers and Suns have to go to at least a game 6. Everyone, myself included thought that the Mavs/Spurs series was going to be a 7 game series where both teams would beat up eachother and then the Suns/Clippers series would be a farely short series. Now its most likely the other way around. Dirk is stepping up big time in clutch situations and making sure his team comes out on top. I think its the Mavericks year.

I think the Spurs can take it to a Game 6 tonight, but I don't think they can hold up for the rest of the series. Unless they pull a Phoenix Suns on them. haha

Maybe the Pistons, if they can score more than 75 a game, they won't be able to just shut the Mavs down like they can everyone else. The Suns will be a 6 game series, but the Mavs will dispatch them easily enough. And I wouldn't the Heat/Mavs would be a that good of a series...good for the NBA and TV, but not a good series.I beleive the Heat are winless against the Mavs since aquiring Shaq, which is crazy after all the success he had against the Mavs as a Laker, and the Mavs destroyed them both times they played this year, I also believe. Now as for the Suns, I do believe that noone on PHX can guard Dirk or Harris, but Raja and Marion will give them some trouble...but I also know that noone on the Mavs can guard Nash either, Harris quickness or not.I do worry about the center position, and I think that's where KVH comes into play...Dirk/KVH can play both the 4 and the 5, and that would be a good matchup.

That's not really out on a limb...but if the Mavs beat the Spurs, why would you say the Suns could beat them?I think the Suns with Amare would be a tough out for the Mavs, but I think they'd still be able to knock them off too, so I definately see them beating the Suns this year without him.

The Mavericks have had a great season, no doubt. They deserve a lot of credit winning with such young players. They have a solid group of players around and I think if they do not go far this year, they will definetly challenge for the NBA Finals next year.

Yeah I guess the mavs have to go small with the suns and play Dirk at C but can the mavs outrun the suns? The mavs play into the suns strength and that is why I am worried about that matchup.

The mavs have really come out this year. I truly believe that this is the year for the Mavs to rise to the top and get some rings on players like Josh Howard, Dirk Nowitzki, and Jerry Stackhouses fingers. They've worked hard and are very deserving. The refs in the Cavs vs. Pistons game seem to really want to stop another Spurs vs. Pistons finals. If the pistons don't get out against the cavs which I actually think they might (call me crazy but i believe so) then they will lose to the heat. Just my personal belief.\We'll see how things turn out but i'm saying a Miami Heat vs. Dalles Maverick Final

The league would love that, and seeing Dirk vs Shaq, and Wade vs Howard/Harris...would be great fun.But as Iv'e said before...the Heat haven't matched up well against the Mavs, and have lost every meeting, 6 or so, since they got Shaq.

The mavs hope the Heat get to the finals. They matchup real well with the Heat. Diop and Dampier can stay at home and not have to guard the perimeter which is a vital part of the mavs defense. Dampier is the Shaq stopper and Diop can bother Shaq some to.

For the last 3 years he has. In Golden State he actually outscored Shaq in one game. He has done better than anyone else in the league against Shaq.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>For the last 3 years he has. In Golden State he actually outscored Shaq in one game. Also, the jokes Shaq make about Damp just shows that Damp bothers him, or else he wouldn't talk about him. Now on topic, I think this is a great year for Mavs to take it all, everything just seems to be falling into place. Who knew 4th seed would work out so well. But I can't be too optimistic as injuries can happen and it's still a long way to go for that ring.

They should have trouble with the Suns but at the moment I see them winning that in 7 and then beating the Cavs [IMG] fairly quickly.

If the suns go to the WCF, they will give the mavs problems, but they should be able to win a series against them.
