There were no surprises in the three first round matches that were completed on a rainy Tuesday at the AEGON Classic, with No.9 seed Aleksandra Wozniak the highest seed in action.

Wozniak achieved her career-high ranking of No.21 last June during a year in which she had a runner-up showing and two semifinal appearances on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. However, 2010 has not been as kind, with the quarters being the furthest she has advanced and her ranking down to No.50 at the start of this week. Nevertheless, she is still the highest-ranked Canadian and showed signs of her 2009 form in her 75 61 defeat of Alicia Molik on Tuesday. It was a far cry from their only previous encounter at the 2007 Japan Open, when Wozniak only managed one game.
