i don't think texas and a&m have said anything like that. it's politicians in texas who either went to baylor or tech or are representing those areas who are trying to push for tech and baylor to be included along with texas and a&m. obviously the main team the pac 10 wants is texas but i really doubt they'd have to cave and bring in baylor and/or tech to get texas. and definitely not if nebraska and missouri really leave for the big 10.
ESPN was just discussing this if the TX politicians get their way BU will replace CU and Colorado would end up with CSU in the Mountain West along with KU and KSU
Another update, this one from Omaha.com: As a reminder, it's speculated that if Nebraska goes to the Big Ten, the Big XII South schools (possibly including Colorado, possibly minus Baylor) will likely accept an offer to join the Pac-10. Also, ESPN asked fans what the new Pac-10/Big XII South Conference should be named. This one was my favorite:
Yeah, it's annoying stuff. It's actually more than just how they refer to themselves -- it's the official name. I've done a couple contracts with Ohio State and it's part of the official name of their institution. Squirrelly as all get out, but there you have it.
And the same goes for the NW schools. They now have more face time in Texas, in front of all those kids.
Maybe they could join the NIT? They would dominate those bitches. UO and OSU would both benefit from enhanced recruiting in the south, as well as gaining more money from the tv deal. If nothing else, it would help them competition wise. You would probably have at least 2 teams from the conference play in a BSC bowl every year.
Yeah but I could also see them losing alot of the California kids to the Texas' and Oklahoma's of the world.
I think this is great for my Beavs. This will make us one of the programs in the most elite college conference in the nation. The Pac16 will get much more respect and national exposure due to the Texas schools. What if we had been left out like Kansas or Kansas state? They might have to join freaking conference USA could you imagine if OSU instead of being in the super pac16 had to join the WAC?
