Getting a point guard of Parker's caliber and experience would be a home run for Portland. B-Roy would be the only untouchable. I love Batum, but if trading him brings in Parker then he would have to be dealt. If we could get Parker for LMA that would be optimal.
Very risky. We would then have no PF and Parker for only one year until he becomes a a Free agent. You better hope like hell Eva likes the rain. Plus we would have to give up another 3 million dollar player to make the salaries match. How would we be better?
Because Tony Parker is a far, far better player then anyone on Portland outside of B-Roy. He could actually be a number 2 (or even 1b) option. Portland could live with Camby at Power forward for a year. DC could back him up. Also, Parker is a vet who has won in big games. He's been to the Finals twice and Finals MVP once. If Portland has the slightest chance to bring a guy like that, they have to do it. It's a bit risky but it's one well worth taking.
Funny, I actually think Roy is the one that would have to go in that trade. I expect a Roy/Parker backcourt would struggle to mesh skill sets just as much as Roy/Miller did, if not more. Rudy would be a much better fit alongside Parker, despite the talent dropoff from Roy.
I want to see Parker and Batum play together . . . I wonder if they would have a chemistry like Sergio and Rudy.
I too would love to see Parker, Roy and Batum play together! And I think Parker would enhance LMA's game. With that said, Miller, Rudy & our #22 pick for Parker. Then trade Pryzbilla and Bayless to Philly for Brand and the #2 pick. Select Favors. Re-sign Blake (for now) and/or bring over Koponen. Parker + Blake + Koponen Roy + Webster Batum + Cunningham LMA + Favors + Brand Camby + Pendergraph + Oden
You do realize that both of those deals are ridiculously lopsided in Portland's favor, right? And that you've populated our front line with 5 bigs making a combined $49M next year? And that you've put Oden third on the center depth chart behind Pendergraph? And that Turner will be a better player than Favors, and would be a much better fit in the roster you've concocted? You get all that, right?
Oden and Pryzbilla for Parker (uh-oh was that out loud?) Miller, Webster, and Bayless for Brand, Lou Williams and the #2... Select Favors or Cousins and plug them in at backup 4/5 with #2... Or select Turner and Batum becomes super sixth man... Parker/Williams/Mills Roy/Fernandez Turner/Batum Aldridge/Cunningham/Pendergraph Camby/Brand/Pendergraph
Aside from violating two rules of trading (1. "Never trade big for small" and 2. "Never trade Greg Oden to a team who knows how to use big men"), I don't like Lou Williams better than Bayless, (and I don't think that those salaries work out anyway). I don't know that Parker's a great fit for us (if he can't play with Ginobili to the point that Manu comes off the bench, what's he going to do with Roy?). Why not just do the Miller/Webster/Bayless for Williams, Brand and #2 and see what doesn't work?
Dang. Phillie would be saving around $38 million in that deal. That is a shit ton of cheddar. And Brand would be a beast as a backup power forward for this team. I'd be willing to throw in any pick they'd want. Hmmm. If I were trying to make the numbers work in Phillie, I might seriously consider that deal. It'd be an absolute horror for the fans there, but man, $52 mil is a ton of money to be wasting on Brand for the next three years. This may be the only way out of that contract.
