Boston Celtics minority owner Jim Pallotta, angry about the officiating in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, confronted commissioner David Stern after the Celtics’ 91-84 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, sources tell the Boston Globe.

The sources say Pallotta told Stern the league should be embarrassed at the officiating in the series, which has been widely criticized. Game 3 included three reviewed calls in the fourth quarter. Celtics coach Doc Rivers was so upset by the Game 3 officiating that he sent 11 plays to the league for review.

Neither the league nor a Celtics spokesman would comment for the Globe on the reported confrontation. But Stern said at an NBA Cares event Wednesday that it wouldn’t be a Celtics-Lakers matchup without complaints about the officiating.

In the past, owners who have criticized the league over officiating have been subject to six-figure fines, the Globe reports

I'm glad this happened because the officials have been a disaster in the NBA Finals. They should be embarrassed.

Good for him. Someone needed to say it besides the media and fans.

I used to be somewhat of a Stern supporter, but his "I can do no wrong" attitude is starting to get to me.

    Update ...

Celtics minority owner Jim Pallotta could be fined after he had a verbal confrontation with NBA commissioner David Stern following Game 3 of the Finals.

According to The Boston Globe, Pallotta was not happy with the referees and told Stern the league should be embarrassed by how the games have been called in the Finals.

Stern doesn't put up with team officials publicly ripping referees -- hello Mavs owner Mark Cuban -- so there's a very good chance that Pallotta will be fined.
