Well after hearing that the SEC commissioner would want Texas and Oklahoma to join but doesn't see either as a realistic possibility, I don't see anyway either of those schools stay in the Big-12. It just wouldn't make sense to stay in what now would be a 10 team league and make far less money than they would be if they joined the Pac-10.

i'm still trying to figure out what it is that you think you know about these big 12 schools because it all seems to be off.

colorado brings the denver tv market and is a pretty good academic school as well. just on those two alone it's a much better choice than tech, k state, oklahoma state, and iowa state.

I heard the Pac-10 never considered BSU because of their academics. Plus they would get killed in everything but Football.

I saw a breakdown of tv ratings per school in the Houston Chronical last year. While the Denver tv market is great, it's not great for college football. It came in 11th out of 12. As for good academic school???? http://www.buffzone.com/ci_15259854?source=most_viewed

Now the PAC 10 needs to jump all over Utah before the BETTER big 12 does. So pathetic.

Meh, people were saying it was inevitable last week that we'd see a Pac-16. There are too many moving parts and too many things can change.

Yep. This is what you see at the end of a deal. Each side is bringing in alternatives to get a little more from the other side at the closing. I still think wherever UT heads, A&M is sure to follow. However, they have enough pride to make it look like it was their idea all along.

As long as we get Texas and Oklahoma, the PAC 10 will be great

That's academics for athletes. I believe the other poster is talking about academics in general, not just the special children that play football.

In wonder if Texas and the other schools would stick around just to get their part of the CU/Nebraska termination fees. If so, I wonder if they'll just wait a year (get the money) and then spring next year. Television contracts and all, they'd have to wait a year anyway to formally join the Pac 10. Is it possible that leaving right now means they're leaving money on the table?

It might, but the big thing standing in the way of this whole thing is Texas wanting it's own tv network that would generate close to 5 million per year, on top of any other tv contract. if they stay in the Big 12, and this supposed new tv deal is for real, they would make more money staying put. The PAC 10 does not allow it's schools to have their own network.
