Do they make any trades, or keep Fisher and hope they can win next year with the same line up? The Celtics will be older, and they are the only team that seems to give the Lakers trouble in the playoffs. What about if Kupchack trades Artest (Cleveland was interested in signing him) or Odom for Mo Williams. Fisher would make a good backup. Bring in Shaq or Brad Miller, and McGrady for some scoring off the bench. Mo / Fisher Bryant / Brown Odom / McGrady Gasol / (2nd round pick) Bynum / Shaq What do you guys think? I know this may be too early to start thinking about with game 6 in two days, but free agency does start in two weeks.
well its fair enough to assume that the lakers front office are going to look to "improve" the team. I think Tmac would be a great guy to go after, i dont know his contract situation, but if he isnt a FA then im sure the knicks would take some expiring contracts. Fisher knows he is over the hill, but he is still a better option than farmar and shannon. if the lakers somehow landed themselves a good point guard this offseason then im sure fisher would head to the bench after a while. ill wait to see how the next game goes to have an idea of what will happen to pau, but if he doesnt pick up his play then id hope for the lakers to trade him, yes he has been extremely reliable in the past, but when it has really mattered he has shrunk. and no team needs that sort of player. artest may not last either, his D has not been all that great so i wouldnt be suprised if he was traded, perhaps along with pau. sign and trade for Chris bosh and some fillers from toronto could make our squad a bit better down the stretch, you never know.
Tracy, like everyone I suggested, is a free agent. I'm sure the Lakers can afford to spend some of the MLE on him. If Artest or is traded, he would be nice to pair up with Odom off the bench. They can use their LLE on Brad Miller. What do you guys think about Shaq? Would you mind him backing up Bynum?
KG will be stronger next year and you might have LeBron on the Bulls contending for the championship. Only small changes should help LA, you don't need anything major.
They will several changes because of the amount of free agents on the roster. We have a top heavy roster and not much flexibility to spend on free agents or re-sign guys. PJax will be our priority this offseason, but the CBA negotiations are going to be an obstacle this summer. It doesn't make sense to commit long term to any new free agents if there's going to be a lockout.
If we lose the series, that means Boston will have beaten us twice in three years. And this year, in our house, at Staples. I imagine Jerry Buss would be pretty pissed if that happened. And I expect changes to be made. The most obvious one is not shelling out 12 million a year for a coach.
