Its not really that they are looking at other options.. its how they are handling it.

Can't wait for Larry the interim GM Miller to take the reigns! What an amazing upgrade that'll be.

I think this also puts all the KP is smug/cocky/shrewd/etc behind the scenes to rest. Never bought into that. The guy seems legitimately genuine to me, and this just reinforces that.

If he was such a dick behind the scenes he probably would have quit by now or fired back with something. He's taken this like a man.

Perhaps while going after a free agent he can send a letter to all of the other teams threatening them with legal action if they persue the same guy.

I mean, it worked so well with the Darius Miles situation.

I'm not a fan of KP but even I have to admit that he's being treated like absolute garbage by PA and Vulcan.

What, you never heard of the "drafting players by shoe size" approach?

KP gives pretty big praise for Nate in that inverview. He could just have easily done the same for Blazer managment and ownership.

He's more likely to promise to deliver the Spinners or the O'Jays to their birthday party if they sign with us.

If KP truly wanted to keep his job, anytime after the Penn firing he could have gave as much praise to Blazer management and ownership as he gave Nate during that interview.

KP gets credit for turning the Blazers around when management and ownership have also played a huge part. Not every GM is going to have 3M to throw into every trade, be able to eat contracts like Francis or Raef, or have high price assistants like Penn.

If KP does not feel the same about Blazer management and ownership, he should be fired in any fashion they see fit.

They are actively seeking his replacement, and he's going to be fired. What the fuck is your point? Again, did you want him to lie?

Still not sure what that has to do with what he could have done the same praisewise. Sorry

They are interviewing and he may be fired. Big difference.

I recall KP praising Paul Allen many times over the years... The fact he's not going out of his way to do so now, when he knows he'll be fired immediately after the draft, is not a surprise and certaintly not a mark against his character. He did say "they", meaning PA and his Vulcans, can do whatever they want. He also said he'll be doing everything he can while he's here to improve Paul Allen's team, despite the knowledge he's being shit-canned by that same man.

So if - and your bolded comment above suggests you do - advocate firing KP because he didn't heap gushing praise on PA in this interview, then that's one of the dumbest things I've ever read... KP is working his ass off to improve PA's team, praising PA during every interview doesn't exactly seem like a top priority in evaluating his ability as GM.

Ben seems to be a little over the top in his report.

Just because a lot is going on, and a lot of changes are happening, and there is ONE listed mistake by Blazer Management - he mashes it all together into CHAOS reigns supreme.

    Please.

Yes, they should have spoken with KP before the GM search. That was and is bullshit. Call them out for that.

    But:

if there is a personal rift (as it seems) that started a while back between Allen and his former pet KP,

and if they have evaluated KP's performace since the Roy/Aldridge draft and found it less than spectacular,

and if they have evaluated the coaching staff's performance in the last two playoffs and found it sub-par,

and if they have lost assistant coach Monty Williams,

and if they don't want to deal with Dean's desire for a promotion, and have lost Lucas,

and if all that screams for a demand to shake up the coaching staff during this good opportunity to do so,

then I agree. It may be tough and confusing and upsetting to the staff and the reporters who know them, but

    TOUGH!

These people get paid boatloads. Us peons suffer worse and get paid far less and for no glory. I for one am not going to cry with Ben over these guys. Geesh.

The praise did not have to be after that interview, but it could have happened any time after the Penn firing.
