I just read over at hoopshypse that Dick Harter decided not to return to Indiana this year. He would be a sweet assistant to bring on board, at least IMO. This is from www.hoopshype.com O'Brien is looking for a replacement after he decided not to retain Lester Conner. It's believed O'Brien wants five assistant coaches again next season. That means he also will have to find a replacement for Dick Harter, who decided not to return.
The problem is that Nate believes himself to be an elite defensive coach, even though Harter has forgotten more about defense than most coaches will ever know.
I have always felt some of the best coaches in the league are the ones who know how to delegate out and split up the responsibilities. That would be too bad if Nate actually thought that way.
Yep. But old coaches are still effective. Harter did an awesome job when he was here before. I would expect no different now.
When I wrote about John Wooden, I could have included the 4 years he coached against Harter. Harter will only be 80 next season and he's probably looking for a new challenge. So he really traveled with the Pacers the last few years? He's still strong.
