Illmatic has posted a nice thread at RealGm that I thought was worth a mention here. The thread suggested that, contrary to the existing paradigm, Chris Bosh will shape free agency as much as Lebron James -- and I buy it for the most part. If Chris Bosh elects to sign with Mami or Los Angeles, Lebron James' only option is to sign with the Bulls if he wants to join a contender. Lebron James pairing up with Chris Bosh in New York would be a formidable duo. The two players may be strong enough with no other talent to win a championship, or at least make a finals appearance. Chris Boozer had a strong season, putting up 20 and 11. But given how bare the cupboard is in NY, if it were only Boozer and LJ in New York, I would anticipate a redux of what happened in Cleveland last season. Mind you, I still think the Bulls would be a legitimate threat to beat the Lakers without Bosh, especially if he ends up in Miami. A Boozer, James, Rose, Noah starting lineup is similar in talent level to the Cs or the Lakers. So contrary to popular opinion, there may not be a pool of free agents waiting to see where LJ signs before the dominoes fall in place. It may be Bosh as much as anyone who is the first to sign and dictates where the rest of the free agents end up.
I believe it. Something tells me the meetings that Wade has called up is to just see what everyone else is thinking. I really dont think everybody is gonna wait for one player to sign with a team, just so they can go sign with them as well.
I dont think Bosh and 'Bron will get it done in NY. They dont have any draft picks. Who will play center? Lee? They need more than just those two.
TBF, I think you nailed it, to my thinking -- and I've said this for a while. Everyone ooh's and aah's about LeBron getting caught up in the Bright Lights/Big City glory of playing in MECCA-MECCA-MECCA-MECCA-MECCA but the fact that Dolan/Zeke leveraged their future deeper than a fly-by-night sub-prime mortgage company could dare to dream by tossing in draft picks galore to consummate questionable trades that haven't panned out should give pause to any top FA thinking Big Apple -- take a look at the roster because what you gets is what you gots. No picks to build on, no more picks to trade, no really attractive trade pieces.
Here here tb#1! MECCA ya right....lol We see just how far a reputation gets a team back in 1999 or there abouts when we tried to make a splash with FA's then. They have a nice player or two, but, it takes more than 3 or 4 players to win. Look at the Lakers, and Celtics. Prime example of needing a strong first five and some decent bench. Bosh and 'Bron equals two not five. I am not discounting some of the players they now have. Truth is we don't know how they would perform when under the pressure of winning night in and night out.
Who on the Bulls starts for Boston? Rose, maybe over Allen, but they do have Rondo at Rose's spot. Maybe Noah over Perkins, though you can't complain about Boston's defense with Perkins as a key player. Plus they'd lose bulk/size. Deng would be a nice 6th man for them.
Well, I agree with the premise that were Bosh goes might determine a lot, but I still think there are plenty of things to consider. The biggest one is is that there are still going to be several teams out there with money after the 2 or 3 biggest names are off the table. I think that's what's going to drive the domino process more than anything.
??? Where would Dwight Howard play on the New England Patriots? Is there any discussion anywhere that Boston has room to or an intention to sign Bosh? This seems to be a strange non sequitor to me. Bosh to Miami clearing the way for LBJ to Chicago or even flat out Bosh to Chicago makes Chicago better and that much closer to running with a championship caliber team like Boston. Boston wasn't Boston until they hit some FA home runs (the biggest of which of course was between GMs who were former Celtic BFFs).
It's not a who, it's a what. As in, it's the sort of credibility-sapping typo you hope doesn't make its way around the internet
I was responding to TBF's post: So how do we look with LeBron or Bosh and the rest of our guys? Lesser than Boston... just maybe. For the reasons I posted.
Heh. I like the way we look vs. the Celtics. They're better position by position, but they're old and we're young. With Bosh and Lebron, 4 of our starters being as good or better than 4 of the Celtics starters, and our guys are going to get better while they're going to get worse.
hmmm, doesnt Rose count as one? lol An all-star. Would Noah count as another? I think either one of them are better than anything the Knicks have right now. Let's see if nY winds up with both guys what type of team they put around them. The Bulls won 12 more games the Knicks, and that was despite injuries to Noah, Deng, and Rose. I think we have a better core to start with.
I said maybe Rose over Allen and maybe Noah over Perkins. On the other hand, you don't sit a guy like Allen, it's something of an insult when a guy like Fisher gets to start for the champs and for all Allen's done in his career. I tend to agree with MikeDC's post about the future, but we still have to go through the Celtics to get to the finals. For the short term.
