He could avoid it by not doing the interview, especially with Canzano who KP knows full well is going to stir the pot. KP's flaw of being an attention whore is problematic. Take the little quote at the end of the interview with Quick where he taunts management about being fired, the guy is smart and he knows that type of line is only going to create more buzz. KP is a good GM, but he is also rather full of himself. A lot of very successful people are egotistical, but you have to know your place on the totem pole. KP seems to think he is higher than he really is.
He does nothing to dissuade his worshippers when they give him all the credit. He doesn't humbly spread the praise around. A real turn-off.
It's problematic for an immature owner, yes. I appreciate Allen's desire to win (and willingness to prove it with the dollars), but if this is the reason KP is going to be released, Allen may be his own worst enemy to winning a title. Not that KP was or wasn't going to get the Blazers there, but an owner who burns with resentment over not having the spotlight, to the point that it affects his personnel decisions, is going to struggle with success.
.............which tells me that KP was already in hot water prior to Penn getting the axe. The operative phrase was, "This (Penn's firing) is just a shot across the bow."
KP had the dubious tasks of helping to re-build a broken (financial, marketing, etc.) business model. As it turned out, he became, both, a facilitator and messenger. Really, who could fault him for that. Shoot, he had a large hand in putting butts back in the seats. Once he was placed on the hot seat, though, he slinked back. It's only recently that he he's become public with his thoughts. I don't in any way view this as him being an "attention whore".
Kenny Vance mentioned this last year, when it was overheard during Vegas Summer League that KP might be on the hot seat ... this appears to have been brewing for some time (and the reasons are still pretty murky).
Look. Everyone knows you have a hard on for the guy so anything you say (write) is actually rendered meaningless Mrs. Patterson.
Are you this sensitive to representation in your real life? You speak as someone who has not one clue about what role an agent plays. It's not Pritchard's agent's job to make sure Paul Allen and vulcan are happy. If Allen and his lackeys are that butthurt over Penn's agent protecting his other client, Pritchard, then we have much larger issues to worry about regarding the future of this franchise than who the next GM will be.
Pile Of Shit I wonder why the rest of the front office isn't begging for the credit that goes along with the absolute raping of this club before Pritchard became GM. Is that why Tweddle Dee and dumb were finally let go? Not enough credit going around on the Miles contract? This whole "Pritchard is arrogant" "wants all the credit" "Not as high as he thinks he is" is fucking laughable. What scale are you mongs using to base this opinion on? Secondly, I'm interested why anyone would possibly give a fuck if the GM of the team they follow is arrogant or gives out enough credit during radio interviews.
The culture has seeming improved since Pritchard took over as GM. Now, people are being fired, yet again. What is the one constant in this chaotic culture over the past 15 years? Hint- it's not Pritchard.
