Golf superstars Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were considered the top two favorites to claim the 2010 US Open Championship this weekend. But surprisingly, both golfers struggled during the tournament’s opening round on June 17, as both failed to make a birdie throughout the entire first round.

Woods bogeyed two of his last three holes, finishing at 3-over-par and tying for 47th overall. Michelson finished in 66th place after bogeying the 16th, 17th and 18th to finish 4-over-par.

“I hit the ball well enough to shoot a good score,” Woods told reporters, “but these greens are just awful.”
