    Lame card.

Hope Hamill ends Jardine's UFC career. I hate that ***.

I think Josh Bryant earned another fight. Yager should not get another one just for being an ass.

    Edit: Good deal for Josh!

I was hoping Yager would fight James Hammortree. I'm surprised Tito Ortiz name is still on the promotion.

Re: Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale: Hamill vs. Jardine (Jun. 19th)

The only great thing about this fight card, is that it is free, because aside from that it's not the best we have seen. Hamil vs Jardine is ok, it should determine who is the UFC's best gatekeeper. I still think the loser stays around, just is way lower down the rankings. I'm personally taking Hamil in this fight. Leben always trys to put on a good fight, but Simpson might be best suited to take this fight to the ground. Siver and Fisher should be an ineresting fight, it's the one I'm most looking forward to seeing in a fight.

All of that said, I without question think this is the weakest crop of fighters from The Ultimate Fighter to date. I'm not seeing big things from any of them in the future, and with both fighters in the main event having lost on the Ultimate Fighter show, it's just not exactly looking great to me. I'm gonna watch anyways because I always watch whatever fight I can, but it's not looking good.

Pretty good show. Maybe not as exciting as Strikeforce: LA but still decent.

Raging Bull Richie didn't look all that great. All he had to do was wait for Yager to punch himself out. Same with McGee and McCray. I have some doubts regarding the potential of these guys. They don't seem like they will amount to much in a very difficult weight class.

Siver vs. Fisher was kind of dull despite being a balanced and active stand-up fight. Siver is mechanical and Fisher doesn't seem like the same fighter he was a few years ago. I was a little surprised that Siver got the unanimous decision--make that a lot surprised. Good for the UFC to have at least one German if they are going back this year though. Fisher's career is winding down.

Leben vs. Simpson was pretty fun. Simpson has some skills but he maybe is a bit old and doesn't have the conditioning to go hard for three rounds. Or maybe Leben's looping punches hurt him throughout the fight. Could be a bit of both. Leben is still the exact same fighter he was five years ago, despite what Goldberg says every damn time about him evolving. He is still a barbarian. No chance he ever gets a title shot.

The fight of the night was Hamill vs. Jardine. For once Jardine's chin held up. Also, Hamill's chin is fucking epic. He cannot be hurt with punches. Dunno what the gouge was in the small of his back--must've happened in training. These guys went hard for three rounds. I thought Herb Dean's taking a point away from Jardine was nonsense. Fouls happen. Hamill's eye didn't even shut. He could still see fine. Hamill has been known to exaggerate a bit too. Yet even if you give Jardine that point back he still loses the fight by split decision. Jardine fought like a man backed into a corner. No doubt the UFC would've cut him if he got knocked out. I think this performance will go along way to getting another fight in the UFC.

Finally the replay of newcomer Travis Brown vs. James McSweeney was satisfying. Really can't stand McSweeney. Brown's style is awful--despite moving much better than someone his height normally would in the UFC (looking at you Tim Sylvia) he kept his hands at his waist and played around too much. You can tell he's used to fighting guys that suck. I'd like to see him fight Stefan Struve or another big kickboxer. He kind of reminded me of Brandon Vera for some reason. Must've been all the Lloyd Irvin in the building.

Forgot to mention that Court McGee picked some great entrance music.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Ohio

It's about the Kent State shootings in 1970. Fit him well.

The mark on Hamill's back was a staph infection. Guess he was allowed to fight with it. Also, he broke his hand in the first round.

That fight last night between Hamil and Jardine was a good fight, real back and fourth, both took some serious punishment. I still feel that Hamil didn't do enough to get inside, because when he did, his uppercuts and striking from clinch distance was lethal. Perhaps it was the broken hand that caused him not to try to get the clinch more. Jardine was doing a great job of attacking the legs and body in that fight when he had space. I still don't think that point should have been taken from him, but Herb Dean is the best in the world at what he does, and I'm just Thomas Westmoreland sitting on a computer. So he would know better than me. That said, both guys took a lot of punishment in that fight, and showed that both are willing to fight.

-On a side rant, I do feel people pay too much attention to Jardines' win/loss record, and not enough attention to who he has actually fought in the UFC. Not many have just out right crushed him, just Wanderlei and Silva who are good fighters, and the fluke from Alexander. Besides that he has given everyone else he has fought all they could handle. I hope they keep him around.

It's hard not to like Court McGee, he comes to fight, and he brings his all every time he steps in the octagon. I still think Nelson and Schaub are better than anyone from this season, that said, I guess the depth for this season was a little better than the heavyweight season. And I'm hoping for big things from Court McGee as much as I have hoped for big things from anyone else to have been on this.

It was a good night of fights, didn't have any name recognition hardly at all, but each fight with the exception of the Siver fight was pretty back and fourth. The Simpson/Leben, Rich/Yager, and Hamil/Jardine were all great TV.

Hopefully Jardine didn't get a f'n staph infection from all the blood him and Hamill were rolling in.

Yeah, it still seems just very irresponsible that some doctor allowed Matt Hamil to go out there and fight. We are obviously not doctors, I don't think, but I believe most of us know that allowing someone fight with such a glaring case of staph is probably not a good idea.

Hopefully Jardine, and everyone else that had to be on that mat after he was on it didn't get anything.
