Let us pray Monty wants Batum badly and is his #1 preference.

Not really. What Orlando can offer is garbage. Carter is over the hill, Collison >> Injury prone Nelson, etc.

HM....LMA and Batum, 17M in expiring contracts (6 of which is insurance cash back) and getting rid of Emekafor (50M outstanding),

    or

Jameer, VC's 17M EC, and getting rid of Posey (13M total).

I think we're still in the lead.

I'm in the strange position of hoping fervently that Portland trades my favourite player.

    Forgive me, Batum.

The whole point of trading Paul, if they do, is not only for some salary cap relief, but also to make room for Collison. Jameer does the opposite of that. This is why teams such as the Nets and Magic won't get far because they want Collison to play extensive minutes I imagine in order to imrpove and be the Chris Paul-lite or something.

I kind of find it odd they'd want Aldridge back. He's owed a lot of money, but I guess he is still only 25.

    Collison
    Thornton
    Batum
    West
    Aldridge

Not too shabby I suppose. Idk, I thought they were trying to cut money.

You wouldn't think you could trade CP3 without getting at least some semblance of a good, young, player back. LMA is a semblance of a young, good player. And he'd probably have to play a lot of C for them.

but if you were going to pay someone 50M over the next 4 years, would you rather it be LMA or Emekafor?

Same. Batum is my favorite Blazer, but Paul is probably my favorite NBA player. "Hand down, man down."

Yeah, I was also thinking that the only way LMA to New Orleans works is if they envisioned him as a center. Which is reasonable...he has the length for it. The problem is that he and West have similar offensive games, rather than complementary ones.

My dream is something like LMA, Bayless, draft picks, Miller and JPEC for Paul/Okafor. But I guess keeping Batum out of it is simply not going to happen.

That is quite the dream. I think we all trade dreams like that. ;)

Webster is still only 23. He's not quite the player Batum is, but I still think there's a little there. He did lead the NBA in 3PTM in January and average 15.5PTs/G. He has talent, he just needs to be more consistent. As he gets older, maybe that comes.

    Paul
    Roy
    Webster
(solid, tough 4) Craig Brackins is like an Aldridge clone almost, except he looks like he can put the ball on the floor a little bit better
    Oden

Webster's only problem is inconsistency, even with defense. One night he will go out and pretty much have Kobe shoot a horrible percentage and just do bad, the next he will guard some scrub who will light him up because, well who knows why. Paul, Roy, and Oden are more than able to be good, Webster is still a decent 3 point shooter which is good to have.

I'm pretty sure that if we have Paul, Roy and Oden, that Webster at the 3 would not necessarily be a problem. And if it was, I'm sure we could find someone like Redick and move Roy to the 3.

Man I will be torn if Paul gets traded to another team. I wouldn't feel nearly bad if he ends up staying with the Hornets because that is understandable, but if he gets traded to another team that obviously means Hornets were willing. I am sure KP is trying everything he can and giving up just about everything.

I'm not the biggest Webster supporter, but I'd be perfectly fine with Webster playing alongside a core like Paul/Roy/Oden. He can shoot, he can defend. As a support player, he's not terrible.

I think it would be just fine. LeBron would play most of the minutes anyway.
