I'm currently downloading OS 4.0 but the file is huge, like 300 MB, so it's going to take awhile. Does anyone already have 4.0, or planning on getting it in the near future? If you already have it do you like it?
I'm planning on getting it. My contract with AT&T ends in November, so I'm eligible for an upgrade to the new iPhone 4. Currently I have the original iPhone, which can not support OS4.
I decided to wait and download it at work since we have high speed wifi. I have already download redsn0w 0.9.5 so I can jailbreak as soon as I upgrade.
I have an iPhone and downloaded the 4.0 update last night. It took about 5 minutes to download and about 10 minutes to install on my phone. I really like the update. I like being able to have multiple email accounts all in one inbox and I like how it now groups your emails into conversations... you click on the latest in a chain of emails and it then shows you the entire email exchange. Grouping apps into folders is a nice new feature and its cool how it now can show you on a map where you took individual pictures. I'm not so sure about the multi-tasking feature. I dont know yet if I like how it keeps every app I've used open in the multi-fuction tab until I delete it.
I upgraded and then used redsn0w to jailbreak it. Freaking awesome, although I have to figure how to get it back to listing all the songs on an album instead of listing artists and then songs by that artist.
I currently have a 3G and my iPhone 4 shows up tomorrow via fedex, a whole day early! I can't wait to get it. The update for 3G is too stripped down to really make a big difference, but I love the folders feature.
Got it upgraded this morning. It caused about 30 minutes of irritation when I had to reset my voice mail password and then when my mail accounts were all screwed up. Rebooting the iphone fixed the mail accounts and a call to AT&T's auto support fixed the vm. Oh, and I had to re-pair the bluetooth adapter in my car, which was harder than it should have been. As far as the benefits... now I can surf the net and listen to Pandora at the same time. That's enough to be worth it me. I'm getting dangerously close to splurging on an iPad.
The wifi is pretty good, it typically get signals about as strong as you would get on a computer. I've never tried the 64GB version but I have a 2G 8GB Touch which I love and the latest 32 and 64GB Touches are supposed to be even faster with more options. All things considered, if I didn't already have a Touch in good working order I would probably get a 64GB.
Here is a good breakdown of all the new features in iOS 4.0 http://www.tipb.com/2010/06/14/ios-4-walkthrough/

played around with Ipad...it blows donkey dick. hard to do anything productive. Mail application is horrible, trying to get a document done (Pages AND Docs to Go) sucks ass. I tried to sync files to access idisk...its totally convoluted. its good to surf the web or read USA today. that's about it.
I think most of that will be fixed with OS4, which I have read will be out in October for the iPad. But you are right, I wouldn't buy one now except for surfing the web, but I'd rather buy a nice laptop for the price of the iPad.
I think transfer files from iPod to Mac need iMacsoft iPod to Mac Transfer. Well, copy files from iPod to PC is easy for me with best software. And, if you are looking for the best dvd converter, here it is. Have a good day!
