Oh, and FWIW, I've never even pretended that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to soccer. I have a few opinions based on what I've watched, but I've needed the soccer fans on this board to help me understand along the way. You should embrace people like me. Not reject them. But maybe it's people like you that are turning people like me off of soccer. There is a lot of snobbery coming from the soccer dorks in this thread, but I'm choosing to look past it and try to learn the game.

I guess so. And I did root for the Americans in that match. I am totally willing to be honest in it. I want them to do well for the reasons I mentioned before, making the sport bigger here would be a wonderful thing IMO. But I did not and do not cheer for them for (Brace yourself) any sense of national pride. I am not a patriotic person, I am not anti any country, or race. I am totally fine with people who have a sense of national pride. But me personally I never have had that in my life, not from my parents, not from my viewpoints. I am sorry if it offends anyone, but race and nationality means nothing to me personally.

I hope for me personally that I have never come off that way. The only parts I felt the need to respond to was the questioning why not to root for the USA.

But I have left the other stuff alone about actual Soccer lol. And am always willing to try and lend some knowledge on the game. Because I would hate for someone to miss out on the Beautiful Game because of snobbery like mentioned.

I'll agree to that. But that could be because they are Underdogs, but its also nice to see the US catching up in the sport. And also for my greedy reasons mentioned before on a club level here lol.

I'm a big Swiss fan, and have been since my 5th grade Switzerland history paper i wrote. Silly reason to like a country but I support them in the Olympics and I'm soo happy they have been competitive in the WC.
