Jackson's contract expires this offseason, and he's weighing whether to return to try to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a third straight title. He has said that he should have a decision by June 27, with the biggest factor being his health. He has a problem with his knee, among other ailments, that he is getting checked out. "Obviously his main issue is his health," Lakers center Pau Gasol said. "I think he's concerned about that. He loves the game of basketball as much as anybody and I think he wants to continue to be a part of what we're doing here, but health is the first thing for everybody. I hope he doesn't retire, but if he doesn't it's completely understandable. Obviously I want him to come back so he can try for that 4th threepeat, and because there's no better coach out there that we can get.
She's probably in her 40s or late 30s. I didn't know you were into Cougars Bahir. LOL I don't think he'll retire unless there's something really bad with his test results. We'll find out soon enough. I have a feeling he'll give it another run though.
Possibly... If Phil does retire we should hire from within and promote Brian Shaw for stability. I don't want us to bring in some "big name" coach like Byron Scott and completely change the entire philosophy of the team.
I completely agree. If PJax doesn't return then Shaw should be the next head coach. He's familiar with the system, the players, and the upper management. Wouldn't make much sense to bring in someone else with a new playbook.

I remember reading a few years back that the players love Shaw and respect him because they're really close to him. Kobe and Fish played with him. I think Shaw would be able to do it. I remember he also stated that if he got a chance to coach the Lakers', he'd still run the triangle but try to make it a bit more uptempo at times.
Ron Artest said Brian Shaw was responsible for helping him learn the Triangle and deal with low points when he was struggling on offense. It's important to hire within, because you want to be able to keep the entire coaching staff intact. If you bring in a new guy ie Byron Scott, then he'll want to bring in his own coaching staff and it becomes a mess.
