Yes. It also takes away the guaranteed salary and caphold of a first round pick.

Smart move IMHO. Sanders could be a big sleeper. I see a lot of Camby in him.

Edit: does that sound like I just confessed to watching gay porn?

Sounds like the Bulls would give away #17 for the cap space.

I'm confused. Miami traded a player and a first round pick for a SECOND round pick? I understand why they did it, but is that doable under the rules?

Yeah, b/c OKC has cap space. Therefore the 125% traded player exception doesn't even come into play. They can get a player and a pick for basically free (well, at the cost of a non-cap-held 2nd-round pick and the salary they're paying the player).

Kind of like when Presti traded a 2nd-round pick for Kurt Thomas and 2 1sts, then traded Kurt Thomas for a 1st-round pick. 3 1sts for a 2nd.

Presti with cap space is like KP at the draft.

Sure. They could do it for $10 if they wanted to and their trade partner could absorb the salary.

The Blazers got the rights to Rudy in a similar way, taking back James Jones with the trade exception from the Zach Randolph trade..

I think this was a good move by the Thunder, but I agree that it's silly to criticize KP for making the move he did earlier in the week.

Woj (via twitter) said the Thunder and Pacers are in talks:

    To Indiana:
    Eric Maynor
    #18
    #21

    To OKC:

    #10

Presti is working the phone like a madman.

Did POR have cap space to make the deal that OKC did?

I don't think they did, so I don't see where the criticism of Prithcard has merit in this case....

We did not, so there is no way portland could have done the same thing.

Personally I think that's too much for the #10 unless they have someone lined up. Maynor played really well and given his salary and contract situation, is the perfect backup in OKC for the next 3 years. I think Maynor and just the #18 should be enough to move up 8 spots in the draft.

Transitive property therefore tells us that LeBron James' value is 9 slots in the middle of the draft.

Deng isn't worth LeBron. He's a consolation prize for the Cavs if they want him.
