I've been told that the Los Angeles Clippers could trade their No. 8 pick to Chicago for Luol Deng and the Bulls' 17th pick. I haven't gotten confirmation on this from a team official, but this trade is feasible because I know the Clippers aren't enamored with any of the guys they can get with the eighth pick. Also, their biggest position of need is small forward. Adding Deng would give them a starting five of Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Deng, Blake Griffin and Chris Kaman. That's pretty formidable. While this eats up most of the Clippers' cap space, they realize they weren't going to get one of the top-flight free agents anyway, certainly not if Donald Sterling refuses to sell the club. For the Bulls, this would be an even greater move because they'd clear even more cap space by removing Deng's $10.3 million salary. When adding the $2.1 million they'd have to pay the eighth pick and subtracting the $1.3 million for their 17th pick, the Bulls would still be nearly $30 million under the cap. That's nearly enough to offer both LeBron James and Chris Bosh maximum contracts. To form a nucleus that would include James, Bosh, Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, you'd think James and Bosh might be willing to give up $1 or $2 million. Honestly, this deal sounds too good to be true for the Bulls (and yet it makes sense for the Clippers too). We'll see. I'm told the Clippers may also have interest in Detroit's Tayshaun Prince, or that if they keep the pick, they're looking at Al-Farouq Aminu. http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/po...g-to-clips-in-swap-of-picks-would-be-good-fit
Broussard: Bulls could send Deng to Clips Essentially we'd be trading Deng and the 17th pick to the Clips for the 8th pick. Why Deng to Clips makes sense
Well now, I thought LAC wanted to be players in the FA this summer? If not, man, this is the best opportunity I have seen to get the Bulls closer to signing two top FA!
Hahaha but I like the possibiliy of this. I like to idea of seein Kirk play under Thibs. And if he we can get rid of kirk, then we have max room to go ape shit with.
It's a big gamble. Both NY and NJ have ~$30M and could sign 2 FAs. Miami is close to $30M and has Wade as a magnet. Sure the Bulls have a couple of good young players in Rose and Noah, but NY is NY, and none of those three teams have fuckers for management like we do.
It is a gamble yes. But if we are wanting two big time FA's and we wait to see if a team would take Deng back in a S&T and they don't, then we are screwed. Of course Denny your point it taken as well. Either way it's hard it's a gamble.
The problem is, like with letting Gordon leave, there's no obvious replacement for Deng but the 8th pick. It's not likely that whoever we draft at #8 would equal Deng's production. Hinrich, on the other hand, is a 10 PER kind of player anymore. He'd be an upgrade for the Lakers at PG, and maybe for the Blazers when Miller retires.
True, it wont equal Deng, but I have to think the Bulls FO would know more about what FA is willing to come here and if there is a chance two will sign. They have to know we have a good chance. Stories have surfaced that Deng is being shopped along with the 17th pick. This may be one of the teams they talked to. #8 and a top FA signed is better than Deng. Add another top FA, its a no brainer. I even like Deng. He is solid. Plays both ends of the court, rebounds well. We just need to take the next step. Hopefully it will include LeBron. If not, it could still work out. I hope. This rumor may not be true. He admitted he couldn't get confirmation, but wrote about it anyway.
Hahaha well we dont know if any FA has verball told the FO that theyre gonna sign. So unless they have, they cant burn us quite like Booz did Jim Pax
It's a tough call for management. Part of the reason you can argue management are "fuckers" is because they haven't taken the chances you need to win a championship.
This may be the Bulls acting because of what Miami did today. They freed up some money. Next they will try and move Beasley. Ya what Boozer did and actually what Brand did was not cool. We will soon know what is going to happen, if anything by July 1. A trade like this cannot be finalized until July 1, I think.
Even if it involves draft picks? I guess youre right, the team just tell each other who to pick at that slot then thats who they get in the trade.
KC confirms talks with Clippers. They've tried to package the pick with Luol Deng or Kirk Hinrich with the 17th pick with little serious interest yet, although talks with the Clippers continue. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...-bits-bulls-chicago--20100623,0,5963539.story
He just posted an update: Since posting the Bulls/Clippers trade rumor, I've spoken with officials from both clubs. Some thought it made a lot of sense, but the one with the most juice said it's not going to happen. He said the Bulls have talked with several clubs, including the Clippers, but that in the end they will end up keeping their 17th pick. Posturing? We'll see. http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop
Hahaha why is Pargo still at Berto? He has to know he's not getting resigned right? lol And I wonder who else has serious interests about the pick + Deng or Kirk
