No way Big Papi gets it. He is like 30 years old and only has like 190 HRs in his career. He started out in Minnesota where he didnt play terribly well. It is too late for him to make a run for this. Unless he hangs around until his early to mid 40's which I doubt he will do with his frame.

But I don't know how his frame will hold up. Is he really 30 years old?

His body will break down at slower level than if he was playing in the field. If he keeps putting up the monster numbers he has been, I could possibly see him being in that club.

Almost definiteAlex Rodriguez (only needs 58, is young, probably has a good chance to easily pass Bonds)Jim Thome (only needs 50, probably won't be around long, but he won't need long at the rate he's hitting 'em this year)Manny Ramirez (53 needed, still in good health)Pujols (he's nearly halfway there in less than 6 seasons)MaybesVlad GuerreroJason Giambi (it's amazing what some juice will do for ya' )Frank Thomas (depends on how much he has left in him, he needs <50)Gary Sheffield (needs 47, pretty much the same situation as Thomas)Carlos LeeAlfonso Soriano (he's actually kinda old, but he's athletic as hell and has only really played 5 full seasons)Too young to tell, but have a good shotRyan Howard (Dude's got 42 homers and hasn't even been in 162 games yet)Francoeur (he's hitting at a good pace this year, but it's the same as Howard... hasn't had a full season yet)Cabrera (Injury happens when you don't expect it sometimes, he's got a good amount under his belt, though)Mark Teixeira (This is the first year that he seems to be doing worse at bat)No way in hell Ortiz gets 500. Too old, too slow pace, and the DH thing isn't going to help him. That's just an indication that he's not athletic/healthy enough to play a position on a daily basis. Derrek Lee is over 30 too with just over 200 HR, can't see him doing it.Ken Griffey could get 600 if he stays healthy for a few more seasons.
