Teams get better the longer they play together. Plus they were not healthy for any length of time which I'm hoping they will be. Sometimes just adding one player turns the tide as Buck Williams did. I am one that hope we are patient and make no major changes. Of course if the right deal came along to improve the team I'd do it, but not just change for the sake of change which some seem to want.

As Pritchard's PR man, Quick is lowering expectations from his previous blue sky words of swinging for the fence. I predict the truth today will be somewhere in between. (I left myself just a weeee bit of wiggle room there.)

True, KP could easily buy another late 1st to stash yet another Euro overseas

Change for the sake of change is always wrong, but I think people confese change for the better for change for the sake of change.

Hypothetically, turning Aldridge, Rudy, Joel and a draft pick into Bosh is change for the better because you win with the best 5, not you second 5 being better than the other guys second 5. Being patient has got us nowhere, and it's time to start thinking about cutting the cake.

So, if the Hornets are not willing to make a deal before the draft, but are going to be weighing their options this summer, would you prefer that the Blazers not keep trying to be in the hunt?

Conversely, I saw it as change for the sake of change when Pritchard made 6 trades on draft day, half of which were just trading that year's 2nd rounders for the next year's.

Pritchard always takes a vacation after mid-July, and is never in the hunt. If it goes beyond then, Pritchard is helpless.

And you are aware that a move to get Bosh or another of the free agents through a sign and trade couldn't happen before July, right? The off-season begins today, not ends. Perhaps you should delay your woeful bleatings about the Blazers doing nothing until they actually do nothing.

So did KP strikeout while swinging for the fence?

I suspect that whatever KP does in July will have little to nothing to do with what the Blazers are doing.

It's gotten us two winning seasons and two playoff appearances. We lost in the first round both times, but it's way to premature to make any drastic changes now. We need to see how we do healthy. We haven't been patience if we make changes now.

Patience is not something that wins in the NBA...its a win now league (a little less than the NFL) but still....

while we were drafting oden, Boston was making they're team better, and as a result, they almost won 2 titles in 3 years....

Exactly. Boston put themselves in possition to contend by being agressive in trade talks, not through the draft. We have the damn pieces to go get some people, so do it

Or I could go by past performance and make a decision that way. KP is an active draft day GM. Singing FA's and making big trades has not been his forte. See last year when we settled for Miller, and Raef's expiring "best trade chip in NBA history" contract that we did nothing with

And, as I intimated in my reply to jlprk, what does KP's past record have to do with what the probable new GM will do this summer?

I don't think a lot of the folks here are aware of what is going on in the Hornets situation. George Shinn is trying to sell the Hornets, but they have been having a hard time finding that happy middle spot where both sides can get the deal done. If they do not get the sale together, Shinn will definitly move Paul. The other side of the coin being, Shinn can threaten to trade Paul so he isn't there when they buy, and force the sale to go through earlier. So it might just be playing Paul Allen as leverage. But it might also be a reality if he can't come to an agreement on the selling price of the team with new ownership.
