<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Apparently, the Wolves will have tough competition to sign point guard Marcus Banks, who also is being pursued by the Lakers and Spurs. The Wolves have the right to match any offer for free agent forward Justin Reed, who they want to bring back.</div>How good is this guy? Is he the answer for the point position in Minnny? I've not watched a ton of games with Banks playing. I thought i heard ppl saying he was sort of on the uncoachable side. Should the Wolves sign him or will they have to break the Bank to sign Banks?

I don't know if he's ready to be a starting pg yet, but he shown signs with his play in Minny for sure. That would be a nice pickup by Lakers to pair him with Smush. Same goes for Spurs, who need some kind of backup behind Parker, Van Exel ain't cutting it showing up to camp out of shape and has not contributed in his time. Beno also does not seem to be the clear cut backup pg. Banks would be a nice pickup for Spurs. Worth the MLE? I think so, he's young, and showed that he can reach his potential if given a chance. Over that, and your overpaying, even the MLE is slightly over, but worth it if he pans out.

You guys need to keep the guy. You need to keep the youth of the Twolves in town and they'll come around.

I hope Marcus finds a home and success. He never really fit in anywhere in Boston and I was upset by that. He is a quick guard who is an incredible defender, he improved his jump shot and his ability to take it to the hoop despite his lack in size. He works out with Gary Payton in the off-season so he's getting the right idea when it comes to improving his game. He works his ass off, is a good guy, and will never give any team any sort of problems. I don't think he will ever be a good starting point guard but he could be a great #2 point guard coming off the bench.

Yeah I miss Marcus and I have been a fan of him since about 2002 when he was at UNLV. I was pretty siked when the trade was announced on draft day. But anyway, your analysis of Marcus was pretty much right on: "He never really fit in anywhere in Boston and I was upset by that. He is a quick guard who is an incredible defender, he improved his jump shot and his ability to take it to the hoop despite his lack in size. He works out with Gary Payton in the off-season so he's getting the right idea when it comes to improving his game. But I disagree with you when you say he will never be a good starting PG. I think he can and will be. Everything you said about him was true, I mean he's very quick, hell of a defender, improved jumper, ability to take it to the basket with ease, hard worker, good guy. That said, if he just keeps on working on his game and gets consistant minutes, no doubt he will be a top 10-15 PG in the NBA down the road. He has all the tools, all the talent, and the conditioning. Mix that with his work ethic he is going to be a player. He never fit in Boston though, which makes me sad because 3-4 years down the road Danny Ainge is going to be kicking himself in the ass about not taking the time to develope Marcus.

Marcus is an extremely talented player, and lat year, he was one of my favorites. According to the front office, he wasn't a good fit. I still don't really get it. He is a VERY good one-on-one defender, and he's explosive on the offensive end. Supposedly Banks wants to walk from minny tho.

He's a great talent that will probably never put it together, he can defend and he runs fast but he can't run a team and makes poor choices.

I don't think he will resign, but you guys should keep him. He is a fast guard that can run the offense with success most of the time. I agree with BCB when he says he makes bad decisons at times, but he showed improvement last season from the previos one with the Celtics.

Nothing official has been announced, Banks is still on the Timberwolves as of right now. Although, I do think he will be in a lakers uniform as well haha. Still the word ignorant is somewhat misused.

It would be nice to keep him on the Timberwolves but I doubt they will. He is asking for a lot more money, than he made last season, which the Wolves don't really have. I would say let him go and then draft a nice young PG in the first round and or use one of the 3 seconds they have. We could also trade the useless Jaric to someone for a PG.
