Kendrick Perkins(notes) wasn't able to play in Game 7 of the NBA Finals and it turns out that that may have been his last chance to pull on a Boston Celtics uniform. AOL FanHouse is reporting that the Celtics "have been dangling center Kendrick Perkins and their No. 19 pick to teams with high lottery picks." Of course Perkins has to have surgery on his torn-up medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament that kept him out of that last game. That surgery could come as early as tomorrow. I don't know why they would trade him. Big Baby is a great energy player off of the bench, but could he really be a starter?
I didn't see his knee leave his body, so he's worth keeping if you ask me. I don't see this package moving the Celtics up into Favors, Cousins, or Monroe territory, so it wouldn't be worth it.
Celtics had better not do this. Doesn't really make too much sense, Perkins is one of the best guys on the defensive side for the Celts. And draftees in the NBA are highly unreliable.
Its rumored that Rasheed Wallace is retiring so losing Perkins would leave an extreme hole in the Celtics lineup. Doing this could make Paul Pierce consider free agency. Things could be interesting in Boston then...
