The 14-month feud between Quinton Jackson and Rashad Evans that culminated at UFC 114 in the main event has been a huge success, according to wrestling and MMA reporter Dave Meltzer. The PPV has drawn nearly 1-million PPV buys (early estimate) making it one of the highest selling UFC PPV's ever. In related news, Quinton Jackson's PPV share of the event likely put his salary for the show up over $2-million not including endorsement money.

If there was any notion two African American fighters couldn't headline an event, that has been completely dispelled. Other fights on the card had relatively little name value (unlike past cards such as UFC 92 that had three main events).

I think this was the first main event in the UFC with two black fighters. Never heard it framed as a racial/racist issue (until this report) just a random fact leading up to the fight.

It is impressive how well this card sold considering there were no title fights and no other headliner/co-main event type fights. Ended up being great fights from top to bottom IMO.

Meltzer is now estimating UFC 114 exceeded 1-million buys, which is huge.
