Funny that everyone is assuming that Paul Allen chose to fire KP at the time he did. From what it sound like, they had a sit down, and KP very well may have pushed the issue. PA stood firm in his decision that the team needs to move in a new direction, and they decided to call it quits. Seems like normal business....Not a big deal. KP was given a great job and well compensated. He was given a talented team of people around him, and they all made him look like a rock star. He should be very thankful for all the Paul has done.
I'd sure like to know more about this. Was it really Patterson who pushed for that trade, he was president/GM at that time, wasn't he??
Agreed. We know the story was leaked an hour before the draft, and that's all we know. I find it hard to fathom that KP woke up this morning not knowing it was his last day on the job, but again, who knows? I think the "how" KP got fired, is not nearly as relevant as the "why." I like KP, but I know everybody's human. Who's to say KP didn't really screw up somehow? For all we know, it could have been Paul Allen who was taking the high road this whole time. Sounds unlikely, but anything's possible when you don't have the whole story. I'll reserve judgement on both of them.
It just shows what a complete dipshit Allen is..... Delay you dumbass....He could have told KP that now was not the time to discuss it and that they could discuss it tomorrow.....It is that easy.... It doesn't matter who leaked it....the ACTION was initiated from Allen.... Fuck...he is a complete idiot....
"Hey Paul kiss my fucking ass. Sorry KP this is not the time to talk about that" Your right that was easy....
He didn't fire him an hour before the draft. He fired him weeks ago. KP and company chose to leak the story an hour before the draft.

That is not the official story from the Blazers, as per Larry Miller. According to Larry, the decision was made this afternoon. barfo
I think the reason PA waited until now was because he didnt want someone else to hire KP before the draft and get tthe benefit of his reseasch. KP has an eye for talent and knows the Blazers wants/needs and stratagey.
Yes, that is surely correct. Having KP hired before the draft by another team would be a bit of a disaster from the keeping-secrets perspective. However, it seems as though there is another shoe to drop - we have a lot of players now and should be doing a trade or five. Why isn't Prichard's knowledge of that worthy of protecting? Seems like September 1 would have been a better date to dump him. barfo
I agree that KP probably knew he was going to be gone way before today, and not just an hour before the draft. And the 'how 'doesn't matter as much as the 'why.' But if Paul Allen really took the high road, why not come forth with the reason why he fired KP and try to calm the waters a bit? Or is it just a case that PA really doesn't give a shit, and could care less if the fans will hate him for staying mute on the whole thing.
I half agree with you. But how do you say "I feel like KP/Penn and their slimmy agent deceived me after I gave them all my trust. I felt hurt by their deception and our relationship can not be repaired." It seems like it is easier to just keep your mouth shut from a legal standpoint. Plus I doubt he would want to hinder them from getting other jobs. Just a possibility.
Yeah, it was obviously coming down the pike. But you claimed that KP decided to leak the news as if it happened today... if that's true the Blazers are somehow backing up KP's story that it happened today. Maybe they both have an interest in making us think it was decided today, I don't know. barfo
